Post Mining and Reclamation Management

Reclamation is an activity carried out throughout the stages of the mining business which includes organizing, restoring, and improving the quality of the environment and ecosystem so that it will function again according to its designation (Permen ESDM No. 26 of 2018). PT TIMAH Tbk undertakes reclamation as a token of compliance with laws and regulations, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 1827K/30/MEM of 2018 Appx. VI concerning guidelines to implementation of Reclamation and Post Mining and Post Operation in Mineral and coal mining Business Activities.

Onshore Mining Reclamation 

Right up till the end of 2021, as a token of commitment to post-mining management, the company has prepared the following seven reclamation plan documents for each area IUP Bangka Regency, IUP West Bangka Regency, IUP Central Bangka Regency, IUP South Bangka Regency, IUP Belitung Regency, IUP East Belitung Regency and IUP Cross-District.

The Company has carried out the following various stages in reclamation activities :

  1. Socializing the reclamation plan to the nearby community in order to obtain their support for the reclamation.
  2. Arranging the land that will be reclaimed, either for revegetation or other uses.
  3. For reclamation in form of revegetation, the following are the activities: Provision of ready-to-plant seeds, Provision of planting media, Determination of spacing ranges, Preparation and filling of the planting holes, Planting (main plant or cover crop), and Maintenance.

Management and Reclamation of Offshore Mining

for its tin mining processing, PT TIMAH Tbk has conducted an Environmental Impact Analysis (ANDAL)before opening its offshore mining. Through ANDL, the company ensures that any sea or offshore areas whose grounds are covered with coral reefs shall be far away from tourist areas.

As a token of commitment to offshore mining management, the company has prepared seven offshore mining management, the company has prepared seven offshore Reclamation Plan documents for each area :

  • Bangka Offshore (Five Documents): Bangka Regency, Wes Bangka Regency, Central Bangka Regency, South Bangka Regency, Cross Regency
  • Karimun Kundur Offshore (Two Documents): Kundur Island and Karimun Island
