Emission Management

Emission Management [POJK51 F.11]

The Company committed to reducing the amount of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and ozone-depleting substance (ODS) emissions. The main source of emissions from the Company’s operational activities comes from mining equipment that uses fossil fuels, such as diesel and gasoline, as well as the installation of diesel-fueled power plants.

Calculation of GHG Emissions

Calculation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is done by taking into account the amount of emissions from various sources such as transportation, industrial activities, and the energy sector. The Company takes steps in calculating GHG emissions:

  1. Identification of emission sources is by determining sources of GHG emissions associated with the activity to be calculated.
  2. Calculate the amount of emissions using available data, such as available data, such as fuel consumption, production, and other activities that can affect GHG emissions.
  3. Convert to carbon units i.e. Convert the emission amount into units of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2 e) which takes into account the global warming potential of other greenhouse gases such as methane and nitrous oxide.
  4. Reporting and analysis.

The results of GHG emissions calculation and data analysis can help to identify the area in which efficiency needs to be improved and emissions can be reduced, the GHG emissions are calculated using the IPCC 2006 method. The calculation of GCG emissions is important in the mitigation effort of climate change and helps the organization as well as the government to develop a measurable and realistic emission reduction strategy and target.

The Company calculates its GHG emissions from Scope 1 which comes from the production and consumption of fuel oil (BBM) and Scope 2 from electricity consumption. The results of the GHG emissions calculation are defined as the total emissions, in tons of CO2 equivalent (CO2eq). The calculation is based on the energy consumption balance between fossil fuels and gases that cause the greenhouse effect with the baseline year of 2019 and the Global Warming Potential/GWP=1 index. Until the reporting period, the Company has conducted a calculation of scope 3 emissions from business travel conducted by the Board of Directors and Board of Commissioners by using the conversion https://www. Throughout 2022, scope 3 emissions resulting from business travel will reach 35.95 tons of CO2Eq. The Company also implements a strategy by encouraging suppliers and customers to share a commitment in reducing carbon emissions from their operational activities. [305-3]

Intensity of Emissions

The calculation of GHG Emission Intensity only calculates carbon equivalent emissions (CO2eq) or others that are appropriate in the calculation of GHG emissions from Scope 1 and Scope 2. The calculation results are expressed in CO2eq/tonnes, based on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) calculation method. [305-4] The intensity of GHG emissions in 2022 was 7.75 CO2eq/ tonnes, an increase of 49% from 2021 of 5.19 CO2eq/ tonnes. This is due to the effect of metal production which decreased from the previous year.
