SOUTH BANGKA -- In celebration of its 49th anniversary, PT Timah Tbk collaborated with the South Bangka Regency Government and various community elements to carry out a city clean-up campaign along Sudirman Street, Simpang Habang, and A. Yani Street in Toboali on Friday morning, 1st August 2025.
Carrying the theme “Untuk Merah Putih” (For the Red and White), the activity involved a wide range of participants, including PT Timah employees, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), university students, youth organizations, the Environmental Agency, and local residents.
The effort resulted in the collection of more than 40 trash bins and 80 large plastic bags filled with both organic and inorganic waste. The garbage was then transported to the Rindik Village Final Disposal Site (TPA).
This initiative reflects PT Timah’s commitment to environmental sustainability and its support for the development of tourism in South Bangka Regency.
South Bangka Regional Secretary (Sekda), Hefi Nuranda, representing the Regent of South Bangka, expressed appreciation for PT Timah’s initiative in engaging the community through this environmental action.
“Alhamdulillah, today’s activity brought real benefits to the community. Especially as we approach the 80th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, there will be many upcoming events. Thank you to PT Timah for initiating this clean-up,” said Hefi.
He hopes that cross-sector collaboration like this will continue, considering the active participation from various stakeholders.
“We saw tremendous synergy today, involving the Environmental Agency, sanitation workers, Wastam Basel, the TNI, Polri, and the community. If needed, let’s keep this clean-up movement going as we prepare for the 80th Independence Day,” he added.
Seeing the enthusiasm of the participants, the regional secretary hopes this collaboration will continue as a shared effort to care for the environment.
“Let’s all take care of our environment together. The enthusiasm of the participants was truly remarkable. Once again, thank you to PT Timah. Let’s keep Toboali clean and welcoming for tourists. Always dispose of trash properly. If there’s no bin in sight, carry your trash until you find one,” he urged.
Echoing the regional secretary’s sentiment, the Commander of the 0432 South Bangka District Military Command, Lt. Col. Arh Sebmy Setiawan, also praised PT Timah’s initiative. His team deployed 20 personnel to take part in the clean-up.
“We truly appreciate PT Timah’s concern for the community. We walked alongside other participants and witnessed the outstanding enthusiasm from all involved,” said the Dandim.
He expressed hope that the synergy would continue and have a positive impact on the environment and community well-being.
“Happy 49th anniversary to PT Timah. May the company continue to succeed, grow, and deliver meaningful benefits to the people of South Bangka,” he concluded.
In addition to the clean-up campaign, PT Timah also held its 49th Anniversary Month of Service activities at the Wasprod Division Office in South Bangka, including a blood donation drive and free health check-ups and treatment through the company’s mobile health service.
These efforts are a clear testament to PT Timah’s contribution to regional development and its commitment to strengthening ties with the community through environmental and healthcare initiatives.
