Women In TINS, PT Timah's Commitment to Prepare Kartini Tambang to Become a Leader

PANGKALPINANG -- The mining industry is generally dominated by men. However, currently, women have also started to play roles and work in this sector which is often considered masculine.

PT Timah, one of the tin mining companies in the world, which has been listed on the stock exchange since 1995, continues to support the role of women to grow, work, and contribute to the Indonesian mining industry.

As a member of the MIND ID mining industry holding, PT Timah has 6% female workers, or 268 people, of the total number of employees at PT Timah.

PT Timah has a special female figure or mining Kartini who has a leadership spirit and has proven her toughness in the mining industry. PT Timah Mining Kartini has contributed to supporting the company's progress.

Currently, several PT Timah mining partners occupy strategic positions related to financial management such as Director of Finance, VP of Finance, and VP of Accounting. In several subsidiaries, Mining Kartini also holds positions as Director.

To support its female workers, PT Timah also has some women-friendly policies such as menstrual leave, maternity leave, equal pay, and especially development programs for female workers, optimizing female talent at the management level.

PT Timah involves women in sustainability and corporate social responsibility efforts to improve performance in terms of compliance with environmental regulations and support sustainable development.

In terms of leadership, PT Timah encourages women to take on leadership roles in mining companies to not only expand talent and potential within the organization but also create a more inclusive and diverse work environment.

This is also in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 5, namely gender equality, and point 8, namely, Supporting inclusive and sustainable economic growth, a fully productive workforce, and decent work.
