WEST BANGKA -- Joy was overflowing for Deni, a resident of Teluk Rubiah Village, and Kurninarti, from Gang Cek Daud, Sungai Baru Sub-district, Mentok. Both walked away with the grand prizes during the Health Week event held by PT Timah Tbk at the PT Timah Complex Soccer Field in Mentok, West Bangka, on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
Deni, who participated in the fun walk with his family, admitted that he had high hopes of winning a prize from the start. Despite the rain, he stayed enthusiastic and completed the event.
“I carried my child the entire way, even through the rain. I kept going and kept praying in my heart, hoping that Allah would reward my efforts and hard work. Alhamdulillah, my prayer was answered,” said Deni gratefully.
He also expressed his appreciation to PT Timah Tbk for organizing an event that was highly anticipated by the community.
“Everyone was very excited. I hope this event can be held again next year, even bigger and more festive. Thank you, PT Timah,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kurninarti was visibly emotional and overjoyed when her raffle number was announced by PT Timah Tbk’s Human Resources Director as the winner of a Mio motorcycle.
“Alhamdulillah, my prayer to have my own motorcycle has finally been granted by Allah. It feels like a gift from PT Timah as well, because just yesterday, on August 1, 2025, my husband, Syamsirwan, officially retired after working at PT Timah,” she said, eyes welling with tears.
She also expressed her hope that similar events would continue to be held and bring even more benefits to the community.
“I hope there will be more events like this next year, even more festive, with more prizes. Thank you, PT Timah. May you continue to thrive,” said Kurninarti.
Not only Deni and Kurninarti, but thousands of residents took part in the Health Week activities celebrating PT Timah Tbk’s 49th anniversary, which carried the theme “For the Red and White.”
The series of activities began with a fun walk, followed by a zumba session, live entertainment, and a local MSME bazaar. PT Timah also distributed hundreds of prizes to participants of the event.
PT Timah Tbk’s Health Week in West Bangka was attended by Human Resources Director Andi Seto Gadhista Asapa, PT Timah Commissioner Rizani Usman, West Bangka Regent Markus, West Bangka Police Chief Pradana Aditya Nugraha, West Bangka District Attorney Bayu Sugiri, and members of the West Bangka Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).
