WEST BANGKA -- The 9th anniversary of the Muntok Indonesian Tin Museum (MTI) took place lively. Various competitions attended by elementary, middle, and high school students added to the liveliness of the event.

MTI Muntok's 9th anniversary with the theme 'I and the Indonesian Tin Museum' was closed by the Acting Governor of Bangka Belitung Ridwan Djamaluddin, Saturday (26/11/2022).

There were competitions held in commemoration of the 9th anniversary of MTI Muntok, namely a drawing competition for the elementary school level, a storytelling competition for the junior high school level, and a competition for selecting museum ambassadors.

Chairman of MTI Muntok Fakhrizal Abubakar said that this competition was held as an effort to introduce MTI Muntok to students.

"This is an effort to introduce MTI through their work in accordance with the theme I am and the Indonesian Tin Museum. Apart from that, the selection of Museum Ambassadors will later become a motivator to invite people to visit and promote the Museum," he said.

Ferdi Nuril won 3rd place in the drawing competition and said he was happy to participate in the activities carried out by MTI.

"Very happy, even though I won 3rd place, I got a prize from the Museum, later the prize will be used for school needs," said Ferdi.

Aylen Chia, the winner of the Museum Ambassador Selection Contest, said that she was proud to be trusted as a Museum Ambassador.

"It is a pleasure to continue to be proud of being trusted as a Museum Ambassador. This trust is of course a duty for us to promote the museum both nationally and internationally. I also invite the public, especially young people, to be more active in promoting the museum in carrying out activities both in the arts and social activities. other," she said.

Mariana, a teacher at SDN 16 Muntok, accompanying participants as well as a museum visitor, said that activities like this are a form of education for students.

"Through the competitions held, students will receive education about museums, and get to know historical places in Muntok," she explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Bangka Tourism and Culture Office Muhamad Ali said he appreciated the activities carried out by MTI Muntok, according to him MTI was one of the tourist attractions in West Bangka.

"MTI Muntok is a Cultural Heritage, an attraction for tourists to visit West Bangka. Organizing activities like this supports introducing the museum to the public and the outside world. We are grateful for the Museum's contribution to West Bangka tourism," he stated.
