Unicolor Deer Population at Batu Besi Primary TB Breeding PT Timah Tbk Increases, This Year Four Deer Calves Were Born

EAST BELITUNG - Throughout 2023 there will be four sambar deer calves born in the sambar deer breeding at the Batu Besi Primary Mine managed by PT Timah Tbk in East Belitung Regency.

Previously, in February one deer was born in healthy condition, in May two sambar deer were born and this August another male deer was born, on Sunday (27/08/2023).

One of the Sambar Deer breeding workers, Ruslan, said that the fourth deer calf would be born in 2023 and in total, there would be four deer calves born since March 1, 2022.

"Yesterday, a female sambar deer calf was born at Primary TB breeding on August 27, 2023, from tagging number 11 at 19.00 WIT in healthy condition," said Ruslan.

According to Ruslan, the sambar deer breeding at the Batu Besi Primary Mine managed by PT Timah Tbk in East Belitung Regency continues to show positive results. Because the population of Unicolor Deer continues to increase.

"This means that PT Timah Tbk has succeeded in breeding and maintaining the sambar deer population," he explained.

Ruslan said that they regulate their diet and always pay attention to the condition of the deer so that they continue to show good breeding.

"Until now there have been no significant obstacles because we are assisted here with supervision from PT Timah Tbk in collaboration with veterinarians and the South Sumatra BKDSA," said Ruslan.

According to Ruslan, the success of raising sambar deer cannot be separated from attention, especially providing adequate food, cleaning the cage, and caring for and approaching the deer so that the deer are tame and not wild.

Ruslan was grateful that the newly born sambar deer calf was healthy and still under their supervision.

"The condition of the previously born deer calves is developing quite well and is now approaching adulthood," said Ruslan.
