UMKM Bazaar Enlivens PT Timah’s 49th Anniversary Health Week in South Bangka, Boosting the Local Economy

SOUTH BANGKA -- The series of events for PT Timah Tbk’s 49th Anniversary Health Week at Nek Aji Beach, Toboali, South Bangka Regency, was not only filled with a fun walk joined by thousands of residents but also enlivened by an MSME bazaar showcasing various local products on Saturday (August 16, 2025).

The MSME Bazaar, which carried the theme "For the Red and White," was participated in by dozens of small businesses and served as a strategic platform for entrepreneurs.

The bazaar provided opportunities to expand markets, introduce products, and increase sales. The enthusiasm of visitors made many of the products sell out quickly.

Not only did the MSME participants in the bazaar tents enjoy the benefits, but other street vendors also experienced an increase in income as the event attracted thousands of attendees.

One of PT Timah Tbk’s fostered partners, Mul Saha, who offered a variety of products such as kricu, kretek, kemplang, and pempek, expressed her delight at being part of the MSME Bazaar.

“Alhamdulillah, thanks to this bazaar our sales have gone up. This event really helps promote our business. Usually, when there’s a crowd like this, our turnover can double. Plus, it’s entertaining for us too when our goods sell out,” said Mul Saha.

She hopes that similar bazaars will be held more often in the future to help them market their products more easily.

Likewise, Lina from the Nanas Madu Women Farmers Group shared that they sold various South Bangka specialties such as roti papan, which drew great interest from visitors.

“Alhamdulillah, sales are good, only a little left now. Many people are buying them as souvenirs since we sell traditional cakes and pineapple drinks. We’re very happy with this MSME Bazaar because it helps boost our income,” she said.

This sense of blessing was also felt by Sukisno, popularly known as Pak De, whose meatball stall was crowded with customers from the morning. According to him, his turnover increased by 50 percent during the bazaar.

“Normally I sell near the National Building, but today I came here because of PT Timah’s event, which attracted thousands of people. Alhamdulillah, many enjoyed the meatballs. Since early morning, sales have been strong, and my turnover went up by more than 50 percent,” he said.

Meanwhile, South Bangka Deputy Regent, Debby Vita Dewi, said the community warmly welcomed PT Timah’s event, which also helped boost the local economy, especially for MSMEs.

“Thank you, PT Timah, for organizing this event. Our people are happy, they feel the benefits, and this has truly empowered our MSMEs and strengthened our local economy,” she said.

The Health Week activities in South Bangka began with a 3-kilometer fun walk around downtown Toboali, followed by a zumba session and the distribution of hundreds of prizes, with the grand prize being ten motorcycles.

Prior to the Health Week, the 49th Anniversary celebration in South Bangka Regency had already included blood donations, community clean-up activities, free medical check-ups, and mass circumcisions for local residents.
