BANGKA - PT Timah Tbk held training for Pokdakan and also the community in Pemali Village at the Pemali Village Meeting Hall, Pemali District, Bangka Regency, Thursday (27/7/2023)
Dozens of participants attended the training from PT Timah Tbk to gain knowledge about spawning and caring for freshwater fish
The head of Pemali Village, Abdul Aziz Hasyim, said that the enthusiasm of the residents to take part in this activity was very high.
"Thank God we received training from PT Timah Tbk in freshwater fish hatchery training. in Pemali there are many ex-mining lands, such as kolong-kolong. So it just so happens that many of our people also make pools there," he said.
According to him, there were 30 people who attended this training activity, which consisted of several groups of fish breeders and also independent individuals.
"Actually there are still many who have ponds, but because the capacity is only 30 people, this is what we are involved with for now. Maybe in the future, God willing, if there are more trainings like this, we will increase the capacity again," he said.
According to him, activities like this really need to be done, because it's very good for educating and broadening their insights.
"We also target in the future to also conduct training on other types of freshwater fish such as catfish, catfish, and gourami," said Abdul Aziz.
He is grateful and appreciates PT Timah Tbk for holding this activity. Because, with this training, he is increasingly convinced that Pemali Village can go to the freshwater fish center in Bangka Regency.
“During my time as Village Head, as far as I know, PT Timah is really helping our residents. My hope is that cooperation like this with PT Timah and other parties doesn't stop here, but can continue," he said.
He said fish breeders also benefited from this training because it had a direct impact on them. He hopes that in the future Pemali Village will become a freshwater fish center in Bangka Regency.
"Yesterday we surveyed the houses of fish breeders, they were very grateful because the village had facilitated them and PT Timah was assisting them in holding this activity because for them this training had an extraordinary impact," he said.
In the same vein, the Head of the Pemali Fish Cultivation Group (Pokdakan), Harom (45) said that they benefited a lot from this training such as spawning, handling, choosing good broodstock, and good care so that they can produce good puppies too.
"Our hope is for PT Timah, first we want to be directed to something bigger. With PT Timah's control, we can develop rapidly. Because if we are not commanded, maybe we don't know the direction, only limited to daily income and cannot grow rapidly," he said.
So far, he said, they have experienced several obstacles that have prevented them from making Pemali Village a center for freshwater fish. However, after receiving this training they are optimistic that they will be able to turn Pemali Village into a freshwater fish center.
“So far we have been on our own, so it's only natural that our wish to make Pemali Village a center for freshwater fish has not been achieved. With this training, my friends feel confident about the goal of village programs to make Pemali a center for freshwater fish," he said.
According to him, training like this really needs to be done to develop freshwater aquaculture. So far, the business processes carried out by the Pokdakan are raising catfish, tilapia, catfish, and carp.
“Indeed we need this kind of training, especially with this training we are known in depth about spawning. Because so far we often buy catfish seeds in Pangkaloinang, where in one purchase there are around 10,000 catfish seeds, with a capital of around 2 million. In fact, sometimes we can also buy 15 thousand, up to 20 thousand seeds from outside," he said.
With this training from PT Timah, they can do their own spawning, they don't need to buy anymore, they can even sell catfish seeds.
"So for spawning itself, we are really still blind. Once we tried to spawn, but it wasn't optimal, maybe the knowledge is still lacking. But after participating in this training, we feel more confident and God willing, we can do that," he said.(* )
