Together with the Pangkalpinang City Fire Department, the PT Timah Fire Brigade team worked to extinguish the fire in Kampung Bintang

PANGKALPINANG – PT Timah deployed a firefighting team to help deal with a fire that occurred in an gaharu warehouse near the densely populated settlement of Kampung Bintang, Pangkalpinang City, Monday (12/8/2024) at around 18.30 WIB.

The PT Timah fire team moved quickly to the location to help handle this incident. Together with the Fire and Rescue Team and various other agencies in Bangka Belitung, they are working hard to extinguish the red rooster which is devouring the agarwood warehouse.

The fire incident occurred at the same time as strong winds and hot weather caused the flames to spread quickly to residential areas. This fire also stirred up local residents.

Head of the Pangkalpinang City Civil Service Police and Fire Department (Satpol PP & Damkar) Unit, Efran, said that the Pangkalpinang City Fire Department received a report of a fire in Kampung Bintang at 18.33 WIB.

Efran explained that ten minutes later the fire brigade car was at the crime scene (TKP), then his party contacted four other posts to immediately help.

"Apart from that, we also asked for assistance from the PT Timah Fire Department to help. Because we saw from last night's incident, we were worried that it would spread to other buildings," said Efran.

According to him, it took the team around four hours to extinguish and carry out cooling in the area where the fire occurred. The narrow condition of the road and the crowd of residents who witnessed the disaster became one of the obstacles for the Fire Department team in taming the fire.

"Thank God, with the alertness of the City Fire and Rescue Team and PT Timah, all of this can be resolved. "In this case, we not only extinguish the fire, but we also have a strategy for how the fire does not spread to other buildings," he said.

In the future, he hopes that PT Timah's synergy with the Pangkalpinang City Government in dealing with disasters and other events can continue to be established. Efran also hopes that PT Timah will also work together to educate the public in dealing with the dangers of fire.

"We are very grateful to the PT Timah Damkar team and the City Damkar team, which is collaborating to serve the residents of Pangkalpinang City. "The participation of PT Timah Damkar is very large, because the PT Timah Damkar team focuses on fire spots that will spread to other buildings," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Corporate Communications at PT Timah, Anggi Siahaan, said that the PT Timah emergency response team was ready to synergize and collaborate with various parties to handle disasters including fires.

Anggi said that PT Timah also has a hotline service for fast and effective assistance to the community in emergency situations, whether related to natural disasters, accidents or other emergency conditions.
