Together with the Bina Tani Tailong Farmers Group, PT TIMAH Tbk Plants Fifty Thousand Pineapple Seedlings in Kundur

KUNDUR — As part of its commitment to support food security and improve community welfare in its operational areas, PT TIMAH Tbk, in collaboration with the Bina Tani Tailong Farmers Group in Riau, planted 50,000 Morris pineapple seedlings in Kundur Village, West Kundur District, Riau Islands Province, on Wednesday (October 15, 2025).

The planting of tens of thousands of pineapple seedlings is a tangible form of PT TIMAH Tbk’s support in empowering farmer groups to develop the potential of local resources sustainably.

In addition to providing pineapple seedlings, PT TIMAH Tbk had previously delivered a mini cultivator as agricultural equipment assistance to help increase productivity and improve the quality of harvests.

The planting activity was also attended by the Head of the Karimun Regency Food and Agriculture Office, Sukrianto Jaya Putra, along with village officials and members of the farmers group.

PT TIMAH Tbk’s Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, stated that the agricultural sector is an important pillar in maintaining national food security. Therefore, PT TIMAH Tbk strives to support farmers in achieving economic independence.

“The company hopes that through this support, farmer groups can become more empowered and self-reliant. Pineapple is one of the leading commodities with high economic value that can be developed by the community,” he said.

Head of the Karimun Regency Food and Agriculture Office, Sukrianto, appreciated PT TIMAH Tbk’s support for local farmer groups in developing pineapple farming, which is one of the region’s key agricultural commodities.

“We thank PT TIMAH for supporting food security and assisting agricultural groups in Karimun Regency through this pineapple planting initiative. Pineapple is one of our main commodities with great economic potential due to its wide market demand,” he said.

He expressed hope that in the future, PT TIMAH Tbk would continue to support the agricultural sector in Karimun Regency to help improve farmers’ welfare and regional food security.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Bina Tani Tailong Farmers Group, Suparno, said they are planting pineapples on a 5-hectare plot of land together with group members.

“We chose to plant pineapples because, based on our experience as farmers, it is a crop that is resistant to pests and adaptable to various weather conditions. We are very grateful for PT TIMAH’s support, especially since most of the people here are farmers. We hope this effort can improve the community’s economy,” he said.

He further expressed hope that PT TIMAH Tbk would continue to assist them in developing the agricultural sector in Kundur to enhance community welfare.

This pineapple planting program is expected to provide long-term benefits for the community, both economically and environmentally. In addition to strengthening local food security, this activity also represents synergy between the company and the community in optimizing the potential of productive land. (*)
