BELITUNG -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk, in collaboration with the Belitung District Attorney’s Office, continues to work together to support poverty alleviation through a livable housing program for communities in Belitung Regency.
This collaboration is realized through support for the Bahari Program (Adhyaksa Housing Assistance for the Nation), by providing home renovation assistance to 20 residents in Belitung Regency through PT TIMAH’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program.
The program is part of a joint effort to improve community welfare while also supporting stunting prevention through the provision of healthier, safer, and more livable housing.
Head of the Belitung District Attorney’s Office, Dr. Teuku Panca Adhyaputra, stated that his office is present to facilitate the distribution of assistance so that it reaches the right beneficiaries and provides real benefits to the community.
“Today, we are handing over assistance to 20 beneficiaries from PT TIMAH’s CSR program for home rehabilitation. The District Attorney’s Office is here to facilitate the process. We hope this assistance will benefit the community, and going forward, programs like this can continue, especially to support poverty alleviation,” he said.
He emphasized that the prosecutor’s office will also supervise the distribution process to ensure that PT TIMAH’s priorities are properly delivered to those in need.
“The prosecutor’s office will oversee the distribution to ensure that PT TIMAH’s priorities are properly channeled to communities in need,” he added.
One of the beneficiaries, Mugiarti (76), a resident of Tanjung Rusa Village, Membalong District, expressed gratitude that her home was selected for renovation assistance.
For decades, Mugiarti had lived in a house with wooden walls that had deteriorated, been damaged by termites, and had a leaking roof.
“Alhamdulillah, I am very grateful to receive this assistance. Many parts of my house walls are damaged and eaten away by termites. This support means so much to us,” she said.
Meanwhile, Head of the Belitung Regency Social Affairs Office, Febriansyah, explained that the selection process for beneficiaries was carried out through data collection from village administrations and verification based on social welfare data.
“Initially, we requested data from the villages. After verification, all recipients were categorized within deciles one to five, meaning they met the criteria as CSR program beneficiaries. At first, the assistance was planned for the construction of one house, but with the available budget, it was considered more appropriate to use it for renovations so that more people could benefit,” he explained.
He expressed appreciation for PT TIMAH’s support, which he said provides direct benefits to residents, particularly in meeting basic community needs.
“Thank you to PT TIMAH for helping the community through this livable housing program. We hope there will be more assistance programs in the future that can benefit the public,” he said. (*)
