BANGKA -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk’s commitment to strengthening sustainable environmental management was once again demonstrated through the revitalization of the Kolong AKHLAK Air Kantung area in Sungailiat, Bangka Regency, on Friday (May 8, 2026).
In conjunction with the 2026 Earth Day commemoration, PT TIMAH collaborated with the Bangka Regency Government to plant mangroves and fruit trees as part of efforts to rehabilitate the coastal ecosystem while also improving the area to become greener, more productive, and beneficial for the community.
The event was attended by PT TIMAH Director of Operations Handy Geniardi, Bangka Regent Fery Insani, Deputy Regent Syahbudin, Head of the Bangka Regency Environmental Agency Ismir Rahmaddinianto, members of the Bangka Regency Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), Sungailiat Police Chief Iptu Reza Irawan, Navy Post Commander Pelda Suwardi, and local residents.
Through the program titled KOLAMBOEMI (Collaborative Nature Conservation and Millennial Ecosystem Management), PT TIMAH carried the theme “Green Synergy: Commemoration of Earth Day 2026 and the Implementation of PT TIMAH’s PROPER Program.”
During the event, PT TIMAH planted a total of 560 seedlings consisting of 400 mangroves, 80 mango seedlings, and 80 coconut seedlings.
PT TIMAH Director of Operations Handy Geniardi stated that the activity is part of the implementation of the 2026 Green PROPER Program, which serves as one of the company’s instruments for encouraging sustainable environmental management practices.
“This planting activity is part of efforts to rehabilitate coastal ecosystems, strengthen environmental resilience, and create added economic and social value for surrounding communities,” said Handy.
He emphasized that environmental management cannot be carried out independently, but instead requires collaboration among multiple stakeholders so that the benefits can be sustained over the long term.
According to him, the revitalization of Kolong AKHLAK Air Kantung is expected to strengthen collective awareness of environmental stewardship while transforming the area into a sustainable, productive, and valuable green space for future generations.
Meanwhile, Bangka Regent Fery Insani expressed appreciation for PT TIMAH’s consistent efforts in implementing environmental management programs together with the local government.
He hopes collaborations like this can continue to expand, not only in the Kolong AKHLAK Air Kantung area but also in other areas across Bangka Regency.
“On behalf of the Bangka Regency Government, we would like to thank PT TIMAH for its cooperation and collaboration in developing Bangka Regency. Let us build this city together so that Sungailiat can continue to progress,” said Fery.
In addition to planting mangroves and fruit trees, PT TIMAH also handed over assistance in the form of 10 grass-cutting machines to the Bangka Regency Environmental Agency to support environmental cleanliness efforts.
PT TIMAH also provided vegetable seedlings to the Nangnung Sejahtera Air Kantung Farmers Group as a form of support for strengthening environmentally based community economic development.
