KARIMUN -- PT Timah continues to support the preservation of customs, culture and traditions of the community in the Company's operational areas. This is one of the company's concrete steps to grow and develop with the community.
Local cultural preservation efforts supported by PT Timah include the tradition of colok lamps and electric decorative lamps in Karimun Regency.
The lampu colok tradition is an important part of the cultural heritage of the Malay community that has been passed down from generation to generation. The installation of kerosene lamps arranged into certain ornaments or symbols is not only a representation of aesthetic and spiritual values, but also a medium for strengthening solidarity between citizens and a space for creativity for the younger generation.
In addition, the use of electric decorative lights also colors this tradition as a form of modern adaptation that still maintains the spirit of togetherness and community creativity. The presence of both types of lighting enriches the atmosphere of the celebration and expands participation across generations.
During Ramadan, PT Timah provided assistance to the P3TU Teluk Uma Youth Group, Pelambung Youth Association, Ranggam Youth, Asmara Dewi Youth Association, and Mata Air Land Youth Association to support the lamp colok tradition.
This assistance is expected to have a positive impact in maintaining the spirit of mutual cooperation and preservation of local culture, as a form of the company's commitment to continue supporting community traditions.
Vice Chairman of Pelambung Youth, Pongkar Village Farid, also expressed his appreciation for the support provided by PT Timah Tbk.
“I would like to thank PT Timah for providing assistance to make electric decorative lights. PT Timah always helps in every youth and community activity in RW1, Pongkar Village,” he said.
In addition to supporting the preservation of local culture in Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province. PT Timah also plays an active role in supporting cultural activities and community traditions in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province such as nuju hayami, ketupat war and others. (*)
