WEST BANGKA -- PT Timah Tbk participated in supporting the VI Bangka Belitung Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) activities to support the achievements of athletes from seven Regencies/Cities in Babel in a sporting event once every four years.
One form of PT Timah Tbk's support in Porprov VI which was implemented in West Bangka Regency was facilitating company assets as venues for several sports competitions.
Not only facilitating the match venue, a number of PT Timah Tbk employees also competed as athletes representing their respective regions.
PT Timah Tbk's commitment to supporting sports in Bangka Belitung was also conveyed by the Chairman of the West Bangka KONI Muhamad Amin who stated that PT Timah Tbk played a role in the success of Porprov VI.
"Several of PT Timah Tbk's facilities and infrastructure were used as Training Centers, training grounds, and venues for athletes, such as tennis courts, football, swimming pools, Karate, Silat, and bicycles," he said.
"Apart from that, there are PT Timah Tbk employees who are also athletes, sports leaders, as well as officials, helping the success of Porprov VI Bangka Belitung," said Amin.
For this reason, as a form of appreciation for PT Timah Tbk's participation in supporting Porprov VI, Amin said PT Timah Tbk was also invited to present medals for outstanding athletes.
"PT Timah was also involved in collecting medals for athletes who won gold, silver and bronze. On behalf of the West Bangka KONI, we would like to thank PT Timah for their support," he added.
Meanwhile, West Bangka cyclist coach Darmono said he was proud to be able to deliver the achievements of West Bangka athletes in cycling.
"Thank God, West Bangka won three gold medals and two bronze medals in cycling, thanks to achievements in Porprov, two West Bangka bicycle athletes are currently competing in the National Championship in Lubuk Linggau. The Porprov VI Bicycle Race venue uses PT Timah's facilities," said Darmono, who is an employee of PT Timah. Tbk.
In the same vein, Putra Lingga, an assistant to the Takraw Jury, acknowledged that PT Timah Tbk's contribution to helping the development of Bangka Belitung sports was genuine.
