CENTRAL BANGKA - Hundreds of runners packed the Bukit Pinteir tourist area to take part in the 2023 Timah Trial Run which was held in Dul Village, Pangkalan Baru District, Central Bangka Regency, Sunday (23/7/2023) morning.
These runners pumped their adrenaline to take part in running activities in hilly areas organized by PT Timah Tbk in collaboration with Pokdarwis Gempita who is the area manager.
The Timah Trial Run is a series of activities to welcome the 47th anniversary of PT Timah Tbk. In addition, as an effort by members of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding to promote the Bukit Pinteir area in the Indonesian Tourism Award (API) in the sports and adventure tourism category.
The Timah Trial Run 2023 is attended by participants from various regions such as the running community, the general public, and government agencies.
In the 'Timah Trail Run 2023' event, participants must conquer a 6-kilometer route, with various steep hill contours. The participants must prepare extra energy and precise techniques to conquer the hill.
One of the participants, Vebram Yulhairil, admitted that the running route in the Bukit Pinteir tourist area was very challenging because the contours of the land were different on every road he passed.
“I have often participated in activities like this, both in Sungailiat, Toboali and even in Mentok. But for the track here it has its own uniqueness when compared to the others," said the second winner in the men's category.
According to him, to be able to conquer this route not only requires extra energy but also the right technique so that he can finish quickly.
"It's very interesting and very challenging and requires more effort in conquering the track this time. Not just speed but it takes skill, energy, and also concentration. Because here the terrain is quite difficult," he said.
"I didn't expect at all to get the second place in the men's category, because to be honest I didn't have any preparation at all, my intention was just to enliven it," he continued.
He hopes that PT Timah Tbk will often carry out activities like this in Bangka Belitung. The reason is that in Babylon there are still very few running competitions like this.
"In Bangka Belitung, they feel that there are still very few activities like this. Events like this are often held, and it will increase people's interest in exercising, so exercising is very important for health," he said.
Meanwhile, Agustina was touched to win first place at the Timah Trail Run 2023.
"Our activities today were really exciting, from the start, everything was running fast. but in the second kilometer it starts to get heavy, really difficult, and very extraordinary, the route on Bukit Pinteir," he said.
Even though he said, this was not his first experience coming to Bukit Pinteir. However, this route made him have to work harder.
"In the past, during the pandemic, my friends and I in the community often climbed this hill, but now it's starting to be rare," he said.

Nevertheless, he did not expect that he could become the first winner in this event. This motivated him to continue participating in events like this.
"I am very happy to be 1st place in the women's category because this is the first time I have been able to get on the podium in a trial run like this. Anyway, I can't express my joy in words," he said. (*)
