Timah Teaching Program, a Real Form of PT Timah's Concern for Education

PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah's steps in supporting the improvement of the quality of education continue to be carried out through various initiatives. One of them is through the Timah Mengajar program.

Timah Mengajar is one of the programs that aims to improve teacher competence while inspiring the younger generation.

This program is part of PT Timah's corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy in the field of education, in line with the company's vision to contribute to creating superior and competitive human resources.

The 2024 Timah Teaching Program has been implemented, namely increasing teacher literacy in scientific writing training for elementary, junior high and high school teachers and education programs for teachers and parents with disabilities, namely the Workshop on Collaboration between Parents and Children in Educating Children with Special Needs.

Timah Mengajar program is implemented in five locations in Pangkalpinang City, Toboali (South Bangka Regency), Tanjung Pandan (Belitung Regency), Manggar (East Belitung Regency), and Kundur (Karimun Regency).

A total of 581 people were involved in the Timah Mengajar program conducted by members of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding. The teachers who have participated in the Teacher Literacy program have successfully written scientific papers in Mass Media and written books.

Department Head Corporate Communication PT Timah, Anggi Siahaan said the Timah Teaching program is a tangible manifestation of PT Timah's contribution to strengthening the education sector. This is also in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 4 on Quality Education.

“The quality of education cannot be separated from the quality of teachers. Therefore, the Company strives to provide continuous support for teachers in the company's operational areas,” said Anggi.

According to him, PT Timah implements a number of programs to improve the quality of education such as supporting the improvement of school facilities and infrastructure, educational scholarships, supporting arts and sports activities including improving the quality of teachers.

“Through these various programs, PT Timah wants to encourage the creation of a better education ecosystem, with the aim of creating human resources in order to realize the Golden Indonesia 2045,” he concluded.
