EAST BELITUNG -- To improve teacher competency in the field of literacy, PT Timah is organizing the Timah Mengajar Program for teachers in East Belitung Regency.
The activity entitled 'Increasing Teacher Competency (Kindergarten, Elementary, MI, Middle School, and High School) Through Writing Popular Scientific Works as a Professional Development Effort was carried out in the East Belitung Education Office Meeting Room on 13-15 August 2024.
In carrying out the Timah Mengajar Program, PT Timah Tbk built a productive multi-party partnership that collaborated with cross-divisions, including the East Belitung Education Office, and also collaborated with the Sekawan Literacy Community.
The Timah Mengajar program has also been implemented in several areas, including Bangka Regency, and Karimun Regency. Dozens of participants who took part in this training seemed enthusiastic.
One of the participants, Marini, a teacher at SDN 4 Kelapa Kampit Belitung Timur, said that the Timah Mengajar program was very fun and useful for increasing teacher potential in terms of writing.
"The benefit that I feel is increasing competence, especially in terms of literacy. Then we also make new friends so we can collaborate with each other to promote literacy," he said.
In the future, he plans to create a literacy program in their school in collaboration with teachers and school principals.
"This program is important to carry out in increasing environmental literacy and learning so that children have a positive mindset and have a sustainable lifestyle," he said.
Marini hopes that PT Timah can continue to support education in order to create superior human resources so that they can manage tin resources in Babel wisely and in an environmentally friendly manner.
Likewise, Asinah, the Pembina Manggar State Kindergarten Teacher, expressed her appreciation for this training. According to him, he gained many new insights regarding literacy development.
"In the future, we will pass on what we got from this training to other teachers so that they will be more active in writing, especially writing articles and popular scientific works," he said. (*)
