Through Stannia Reading Park, PT Timah Enhances Students' Awareness of Traffic Regulations in West Bangka

WEST BANGKA - PT Timah remains committed to supporting the improvement of human resources through both informal and formal education. One such initiative is the support for Stannia Reading Park located in Tirta Permai Park, Metallurgy Unit Complex, West Bangka Regency.

Stannia Reading Park serves as an educational facility for students and the general public who seek to broaden their knowledge through various books available in the reading park.

Not only does Stannia Reading Park provide reading materials, but it also serves as an educational hub for traffic regulations. Stannia Reading Park contributed to the Metallurgy Unit Complex winning first place in the Clean Traffic Village competition in 2023.

Students often utilize Stannia Reading Park for studying and recreation due to its comfortable environment. Yesa, a fourth-grade student at IT Mentok Elementary School in West Bangka, expressed her satisfaction with the park.

"It's fascinating here because besides learning about general knowledge and traffic rules, there's also a playground. So, I enjoy spending time at Stannia Reading Park. The caretakers are kind and friendly," she said.

Similarly, Arsila, a resident of Kampung Baru, mentioned that being at Stannia Reading Park feels like being at school. Apart from studying, there are also coloring activities available.

"I really like coming here. It's safe and child-friendly. While waiting for my mother to attend her Quran class, it feels like being at school. We can read books, color, and play. And everything is free. We can learn while playing because there's a playground," said the first-grade student at Mentok Elementary School 1.

Elza, the manager and librarian, stated that besides being a public reading park, Stannia Reading Park also serves as an educational platform for students and visitors regarding traffic regulations.

"Since being designated as a Clean Traffic Village, the library has become an educational space for visitors to learn about traffic rules. The reading park has received numerous book donations from the police, and these books are expected to serve as educational resources for students to obey traffic regulations on the roads," she explained.

Elza also expressed gratitude for the support from PT Timah, stating that Stannia Reading Park has seen progress and an increase in visitors due to PT Timah's support.

"Praise be to God, there are often new books in the Reading Park, all supported by PT Timah," she said. (*)
