CENTRAL BANGKA -- PT TIMAH Tbk has provided assistance to support the construction of Uswatun Hasanah Mosque in Jelutung Village, Namang District, Central Bangka Regency, on Tuesday (July 14, 2026).
The assistance is part of PT TIMAH’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, which aims to support social and religious initiatives, particularly mosques that serve as centers of worship for communities in the company’s operational areas.
Construction of Uswatun Hasanah Mosque has been underway for several years. However, the project has faced challenges due to limited funding, causing its completion to progress more slowly than expected.
The Chairman of the Uswatun Hasanah Mosque Management Board (DKM), Sawiran, said that PT TIMAH’s assistance has provided meaningful support for both the mosque committee and the local community in continuing the construction of the place of worship.
“The biggest challenge we have faced has been the lack of funding to continue the mosque’s construction. Therefore, PT TIMAH’s assistance has been tremendously helpful to us,” Sawiran said.
He explained that although the building is only about 40 percent complete, the mosque has already begun serving the community for daily congregational prayers and worship activities during the month of Ramadan.
“Alhamdulillah, even though construction is not yet complete, the mosque is already being used by the community for congregational prayers. This assistance has certainly encouraged us to continue completing the construction,” he said.
He added that construction of the mosque began in 2019 with support from the local government, community contributions, and donors. To this day, significant funding is still needed to fully complete the mosque.
Echoing the same sentiment, Jelutung Village Hamlet Head Sarferi said that the construction project still requires funding for building materials as well as workers’ wages.
According to him, PT TIMAH’s assistance has provided tangible benefits by helping ensure the construction process continues smoothly, including covering labor costs.
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to PT TIMAH for its concern and support in helping build this mosque. We hope PT TIMAH continues to grow and provide lasting benefits to the community,” Sarferi said.
