BANGKA -- As part of its social responsibility and concern for public health, PT Timah Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment by providing financial assistance for medical treatment to residents in its operational areas.
This assistance is aimed at individuals suffering from serious health conditions but facing financial constraints, reflecting PT Timah’s tangible presence within the communities.
The medical assistance program has reached various groups, from children to the elderly, who require medical treatment, surgery, or long-term care.
In 2025, PT Timah has provided medical aid to people in its operational regions such as Bangka, Belitung, and the Riau Islands. Applications for aid are submitted by residents through village or sub-district governments or local social institutions.
In addition to financial assistance, PT Timah also regularly supports public health by offering free medical checkups via its mobile health clinic, and donating health aids like wheelchairs and prosthetic limbs.
Anggi Siahaan, Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT Timah Tbk, stated that individual medical aid is a vital part of their program as it directly impacts the lives of people facing tough times.
“Health is a basic right for everyone. The company strives to be present and part of the solution when people in our operational areas need health support,” said Anggi.
Through its focus on public health, PT Timah hopes to ease the burdens of local communities and be more than just a mining company—it aims to be a meaningful partner.
One of the beneficiaries, Dian Afitra, a resident of South Bangka, needed medical support for her child, Ramadan Fitra, who recently had a serious accident and required intensive hospital care.
“His condition was critical and he had to undergo surgery. Since the accident wasn’t covered by BPJS, we had to pay out of pocket. He had a head operation and was treated in the PICU. The costs were very high, but thank God, many people helped us,” she said.
She expressed her gratitude to PT Timah for the financial support, saying it was very meaningful since it helped her settle the hospital bills.
“I work at a repair shop just to make ends meet. Thank you to everyone who helped, especially PT Timah, for helping us pay for my child’s treatment,” she added.
Similarly, Arisha Shakila Ramadhani, a resident of Penarah Village, Belat District, Karimun Regency, also received medical assistance. The aid was handed over by PT Timah’s representatives to the Village Head, Abdul Rahman.
Arisha’s father, Ismail, was deeply moved by the help he received from PT Timah for his daughter’s treatment.
“I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to PT Timah Tbk for helping with my child’s medical expenses. I wish them continued success,” he said.
