BANGKA -- Thousands of runners will take part in the TINS Half Marathon 2025, a prestigious running event held to celebrate the 49th anniversary of PT Timah Tbk. The race will take place on Saturday, August 23.
The TINS Half Marathon 2025 will feature three race categories: 5K, 10K, and 21K, open to participants of all levels.
The event has been met with great enthusiasm from the running community, with around 2,500 participants already registered. It will not only be joined by local runners but also attract national-level athletes.
Ahead of the TINS Half Marathon, PT Timah also organized a 4.9K Fun Run and Coaching Clinic on Friday, August 8, 2025, serving as a warm-up for the main race while providing participants with training in running techniques and stamina management.
Chairman of the 49th Anniversary Committee of PT Timah, Hikmat Slamet, said that interest in the TINS Half Marathon 2025 has been very high. He added that the event is not only a celebration of the company’s anniversary but also a way to encourage the public to live a healthy and active lifestyle.
“Through the TINS Half Marathon, PT Timah wants to inspire people to exercise and maintain their health. We also hope this event can boost the local economy, as it involves both local and national runners,” he said.
Looking ahead, Hikmat hopes the TINS Half Marathon will become a sporting event that the people of Bangka Belitung and runners across the country can be proud of, eventually turning it into an annual tradition.
One of the participants, Dony Fahroem, who will be competing in the 21K category, said he has been making various preparations for the race.
“My preparation has been mainly training, like doing a few long runs, tempo runs, more running drills for better running ergonomics, and strengthening my legs. Of course, I also take rest days and go to physiotherapy,” Dony said after joining the 4.9K Fun Run and coaching clinic.
Similarly, Yozar, a member of the Bangka Runners community, said the TINS Half Marathon is one of the most anticipated events for running enthusiasts.
“I hope it becomes an annual event and a signature brand for PT Timah. We also wish PT Timah continued success and that the TINS Half Marathon runs smoothly,” he said.
He added that he has been increasing his training sessions to be ready for the race.
“My preparation is all about training, increasing the intensity to about four to five sessions a week. Hopefully, it all goes well,” he said.
In celebration of its 49th anniversary under the theme “For the Red and White,” PT Timah Tbk is holding a variety of activities, including sports competitions between employees, as well as social programs such as free healthcare services, blood donation drives, and mass circumcisions in the company’s operational areas.
