This year, PT Timah Tbk Targets the Reclamation of 400 Hectares of Land in Bangka Belitung

PANGKALPINANG -- PT Timah Tbk in 2023 plans to carry out land reclamation of 400 hectares spread across the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. PT Timah Tbk consistently carries out sustainable environmental management, one of which is reclamation.

PT Timah's land reclamation plan in 2023 will be carried out in Bangka Regency covering an area of ??135 hectares, West Bangka Regency 59 hectares, Central Bangka 12 hectares, South Bangka 8.5 hectares, Belitung covering 26.5 hectares, East Belitung 68 hectares and Cross Districts 91 hectares.

In 2022, PT Timah realized a land reclamation of 403.79 hectares which was carried out in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province.

Land reclamation carried out by PT Timah Tbk refers to the company's reclamation plan by revegetating or planting and reclamation in other forms.

In carrying out revegetation of PT Timah Tbk plants and reforestation on post-mining land. For planting selected plants such as fruit plants such as oranges, avocados, and others. In addition, the company also planted sengon, cashew, and oil palm trees.

As for reclamation in other forms, PT Timah will carry out the arrangement of ex-mining land that is adjusted to the needs of the community.

Another form of reclamation program implemented by PT Timah Tbk is Kampoeng Reclamation Air Jangkang and Kampong Reclamation Selinssing.

PT Timah Tbk's Head of Corporate Communications, Anggi Siahaan, said that the reclamation plan being carried out is adjusted to the opening of the mining area that the company will carry out.

"The company is very committed to managing ex-mining land so that it can provide added value to the community. So the reclamation program being carried out is not only limited to carrying out its responsibilities but also has an economic impact on the community," he said.

Anggi said that the reclamation by PT Timah Tbk was also being assessed by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

"Sustainable environmental management is one of the company's priority programs, because we do not deny that mining activities have an impact on the environment, but if managed properly it can minimize environmental impacts," said Anggi. (**)
