The Story of the Travelers with PT Timah and the Ministry of BUMN, Connecting Relationships to Fun Experiences

PANGKALPINANG -- Homecoming is a moment that people look forward to before Eid al-Fitr. To support this annual tradition, PT Timah held a free homecoming program in 2025 entitled ‘Mudik Aman Sampai Tujuan’. The free homecoming program initiated by the Ministry of SOEs is to facilitate people who want to return to their hometowns comfortably and safely.

The enthusiasm of free homecoming participants with PT Timah this year is quite high, this is indicated by the high interest of the community who registered for this program. In addition to providing transportation, PT Timah also provided food packages and souvenirs to the travelers.

Mudik with PT Timah was attended by students and the general public from Java Island and Sumatra Island with the destination of Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Riau Province and Riau Islands Province. The travelers took land and sea routes to arrive at their hometowns.

The travelers shared the excitement of homecoming that they did with PT Timah by using land and sea transportation.

One of the students from Yogyarta who went home to Riau Islands, Dea, shared her pleasant homecoming impression with PT Timah. Moreover, this is the first experience for her to participate in free homecoming and also homecoming using land and sea transportation.

"To be honest, I really enjoyed this trip because I could enjoy the scenery in various regions even from inside the car. I spent a lot of time on the trip listening to music and reading books. This is also my first trip on a long bus because I usually use the train, and there are many new friends who are also students in Yogya," she said.

Dea said that this free homecoming program not only helped to save on the cost of returning home, but also became an opportunity to increase relationships and friendship because she also made many new acquaintances. She hopes that this homecoming program can continue because it is very attractive to students.

"If for homecoming we need around Rp1.7 million, but with this program we don't have to pay and this is very helpful. Hopefully PT Timah will have a lot of sustenance so that later the quota can increase," he hoped.

The excitement of going home with PT Timah was also told by Alit, a student of Sriwijaya University Palembang who said he was very happy with PT Timah's free homecoming.

"The feeling is happy, anyway it cannot be expressed in words. Very interesting experience, can gather with friends. This program is very helpful, especially for students who cannot go home because of their parents' financial condition," he said.
