BANGKA -- During Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri, PT Timah facilitated the students of PT Timah's Pemali Boarding School Program PT Timah Scholarship Class at SMAN 1 Pemali to return to their hometowns such as in Riau Province, Riau Islands Province and all districts in Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
The return of the PT Timah Scholarship class program students is not only to release longing with the family, but also to knit the relationship with the Pemali Boarding School alumni as well as motivate other students.
This experience was told by M. Rival Alabrasi, a recipient of the PT Timah scholarship class program who returned to his hometown in Meranti, Riau Province.
“My feelings when going home to my hometown after a vacation during fasting are certainly very happy because I can meet and gather with my extended family,” said Rival.
During the vacation, Rival participated in a very memorable activity, namely a reunion with PBS alumni students in Meranti. The activity made him more enthusiastic and happy when he returned to school.
“By gathering and sharing makes our mood back in a happy and cheerful state,” he added.
Known as an active and accomplished student, Rival was listed as a participant in the 2024 Physics District Science Olympiad (OSK) and also a representative in the 2025 Physics Quiz Competition (LCC). In addition, Rival is also trusted to serve as the Head of Islamic Spirituality (Rohis) at SMAN 1 Pemali.
Rival and his friends returned to the Pemali Boarding School dormitory on Monday, April 7. Now, they are back to their routine and preparing themselves to focus on learning and making more achievements.
For Rival, returning to the dormitory should make him refocus on his studies, especially facing the Physics District Science Olympiad. His main target this semester is to improve his grades and catch up.
He realizes that challenges will come, especially in terms of dividing time between school schedules and other activities. However, he has prepared himself to arrange a night break and utilize his free time to study.
He also appreciates PT Timah for facilitating them to go home to their hometowns during Lebaran for free. For him, this scholarship program is not only to improve his academic performance but also help improve their soft skills.
"I would like to thank PT Timah because with the homecoming program, I and all PBS students in Meranti/Karimun feel very happy and cheerful because they can gather during fasting and Eid al-Fitr," he said.
He also hopes that PT Timah can continue this scholarship class program, because scholarships can help students to pursue a better education.
“PT Timah Is The Best, hopefully this program can continue,” he said.
The Pemali Boarding School program is a concrete step by PT Timah to support the improvement of the quality of human resources in the mining area. (*)
