PANGKALPINANG — The 50th Anniversary Community Service Month of PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk has been filled with various social activities that directly address the needs of local communities. One of these activities was a free mass circumcision program, which was attended by 564 children across several of the company’s operational areas.
In addition to the mass circumcision program, PT TIMAH’s 50th Anniversary Community Service Month, which carries the theme “Tin for the People,” also featured blood donation drives and free health check-ups for local communities.
The mass circumcision program was held in Sungailiat and Belinyu, Bangka Regency; Koba, Central Bangka Regency; Toboali, South Bangka Regency; Mentok, West Bangka Regency; Kundur, Riau Islands; and Jakarta.

The mass circumcision program is a regular initiative carried out by PT TIMAH as part of the company’s anniversary celebrations. It has also become one of the programs eagerly anticipated by the community.
For the participants and their families, the activity was more than just a free healthcare service. The mass circumcision program also became a joyful moment while helping ease the financial burden on families.
One of the participants was Alwi, a sixth-grade student at SD Negeri 007 Sawang, Karimun Regency. He looked cheerful, although a hint of nervousness could occasionally be seen on his face as he prepared to undergo the circumcision.
“I’m happy to be able to have my circumcision at PT TIMAH. I was also allowed to take time off from school until I recovered. Thank you, PT TIMAH, for circumcising me,” said Alwi.
After undergoing the circumcision procedure, a smile once again lit up Alwi’s face. He also shared his dream of becoming an Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldier.
PT TIMAH’s free mass circumcision program has also provided significant benefits to families facing economic difficulties.

One of them is Desi Alena Suharini (40), a resident of Tanjung Subdistrict, Mentok, West Bangka Regency. Since her husband passed away nine years ago, Desi has had to raise her four children on her own.
To support her family, Desi relies on income from her laundry business. Under these circumstances, the cost of circumcision was one of the family’s needs that she could not prioritize.
Therefore, she was grateful when she learned about PT TIMAH’s free mass circumcision program. Desi then brought her child to participate in the event.
“Alhamdulillah, I was able to have my child circumcised and fulfill his wish. Previously, we couldn’t do it because we didn’t have enough money for the circumcision. This free circumcision program has really helped our family, as our only source of income is from the laundry business,” Desi said.
According to Desi, social programs that directly address the needs of the community are very meaningful for families like hers. She hopes similar activities can continue to be held.
“I hope this program can continue because it is very beneficial for underprivileged communities like us. Thank you very much, PT TIMAH. May Allah bless you,” she said.
Enthusiasm for the mass circumcision program was also evident in Central Bangka Regency. Several parents expressed their gratitude that their children were able to receive free circumcision services.
Wana was one of them. She accompanied her son, Haikal, to participate in the activity. She said she was happy because her son could undergo the circumcision without having to pay anything. Even more reassuringly, Haikal reportedly did not experience any pain during the procedure.
“We are extremely happy about this activity. The entire process was free, and my son was happy too because he didn’t feel any pain,” Wana said. (*)
