BANGKA -- The movement to plant 48,000 trees to welcome PT Timah's 48th anniversary continues. Apart from planting 48,000 trees, PT Timah also planted 48 local Bangka Belitung plants.

The planting of 48 local trees such as jelutung, nyatoh, eucalyptus and gaharu was planted in Kampoeng Reclamation AirANGKAng involving PT Timah employees on Friday (26/7/2024).

The trees planted include eucalyptus, mangrove, cashew nut, soursop, sea pine, and fruits such as matoa, mango rambutan, avocado and durian.

"The planting of 48 local trees in the Kampoeng Reclamation Air Panjang is part of a series of planting of 48,000 trees to welcome PT Timah's 48th anniversary on August 2," said Head of PT Timah Corporate Communications, Anggi Siahaan.

The planting of 48 local trees in the Kampoeng Water Reclamation is an effort to enrich plants that already exist in the PT Timah reclamation area.

Anggi explained that the program to plant 48,000 thousand trees was part of PT Timah's initiative to support environmental preservation and contribute to reforestation in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province and Riau Islands Province.

PT Timah's planting of 48,000 trees in the context of PT Timah's 48th anniversary is in line with the Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Government's Spirit of Planting the People of Bangka Belitung (Semarak Babel) program which was just launched on Tuesday 23 July.

Tens of thousands of trees have been planted in stages since January 2024 and the 48,000th tree will be planted on August 2. PT Timah collaborates with various levels of society, Regional Government, and communities.

Until July 25, 2024, 37,610 trees have been planted, and to coincide with World Mangrove Day on July 26, PT Timah will also plant thousands of mangrove trees. Meanwhile, the rest will be planted on August 2 2024 to complete the 48,000 trees.

Apart from planting 48,000 trees, PT Timah will also distribute 4,800 seedlings to the community, plant 480 fruit trees in operational areas, and plant 48 local trees. (*)
