WEST BANGKA -- Coinciding with the momentum of commemorating the Ascension of Jesus Christ in 2023, PT Timah Tbk handed over assistance to GPIB Bethesda Muntok, West Bangka Regency.
The assistance in the form of musical instruments and a sound system was handed over by the Deputy Head of the Muntok Metallurgical Unit of PT Timah Tbk, Kopdi Saragih to Pastor Marny Ike Riono Nayoan, Thursday (18/5/2023).
Through this assistance, it is hoped that it can support worship activities for hundreds of congregations in the church. The church which was built in 1927 has a congregation of 173 people from 51 families consisting of various ethnic groups.
GPIB Bathesda Pastor Marny Ike Riono Nayoan said PT Timah had always been a part that supported the Church.
"We are grateful that PT Timah has been a part that continues to help GPIB Mentok from the past until now," he said.
He explained that the assistance from PT Timah was to maximize service to the needs of the church. He was also pleased that PT Timah Tbk responded quickly to their request for assistance.
"The assistance provided is an extension of our services. Musical and multimedia instruments are still very limited and can be maximized with assistance from PT Timah," he explained.
Apart from helping with musical instruments, according to him, PT Timah Tbk has helped renovate several parts of their church building
In the same vein, GPIB Secretary Bathesda Mentok Yuni Iswarin Tamberongan appreciated PT Timah's assistance which would be utilized as needed.
"On behalf of the Congregational Guardians and the congregation, we thank you for all the assistance that has been given to us. We will use the assistance provided by PT Timah, in accordance with the request that we submitted to PT Timah. May PT Timah prosper and God bless," he said. (*)
