PANGKALPINANG — Over the past few decades, PT Timah has consistently supported the growth and independence of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Through its Micro and Small Business Funding (PUMK) program, PT Timah plays an active role in boosting the local economy by empowering MSMEs.
Since 2000 up to June 2025, PT Timah's PUMK program has supported 10,265 MSME players. As of now, 4,007 MSMEs remain active and continue to grow alongside PT Timah.
PT Timah's fostered partners are spread across the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Riau Islands Province, Riau Province, West Java, Banten, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
Through the PUMK program, PT Timah not only provides capital support to MSMEs but also guides and encourages them to become independent and level up their businesses.
As a member of the Mining Industry Holding MIND ID, the company also offers various trainings such as digital-based financial management, eco-print workshops, benchmarking to develop MSME products, and digital marketing training.
In terms of marketing, PT Timah facilitates its MSME partners to promote their products at the TINS Gallery and various exhibitions at both local and national levels.
The MSMEs supported by PT Timah operate in various sectors, including the creative industry, culinary, services, agriculture, plantations, and fisheries.
One of PT Timah's fostered partners, Yuliana, shared that she has experienced many benefits since becoming a partner, particularly in terms of wider product marketing.
She noted that she is frequently involved in training and exhibition activities. “Through these activities, more people have come to know my products,” she said.
"Alhamdulillah, I’ve joined several trainings held by PT Timah, and they have been very helpful. We’ve also received marketing support which helps us continue introducing our products, and this has also contributed to increased sales," said the owner of Pak Umar Fish Sticks.
Looking ahead, she hopes PT Timah will continue to support them through various training programs to enhance their business capabilities and improve their economic standing.
Similarly, Tina, another PT Timah MSME partner who sells Bangka traditional food called Kue Semprong, said that becoming a partner has significantly increased her product’s exposure. Her products are now marketed in many major cities across Indonesia.
“I’ve gained many benefits after becoming a PT Timah partner. I was able to obtain business capital to purchase additional equipment, received training, and got marketing support through the TINS Gallery, which helped my products become more well-known,” she said.
PT Timah's Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, stated that the company's commitment to supporting MSMEs stems from their strategic role in job creation, encouraging local innovation, and strengthening the community's economic resilience.
"As part of the company's commitment to supporting national economic growth and community empowerment, we consistently support MSMEs through various programs, including training, capital access, and marketing facilitation. PT Timah aims to create a supportive ecosystem for MSME development," he said.
This support is not only short-term but also part of a long-term strategy to foster independence and competitiveness among MSMEs at the local, national, and even global levels.
"In the future, the company will continue to expand its collaborations with various stakeholders to create a broader and more sustainable impact on the MSME sector in Indonesia," Anggi concluded.
