The Australian Embassy is Happy, Every Year PT Timah Tbk Supports Them in World War 2 Commemoration in Muntok

WEST BANGKA -- Every year in February the Australian, British, and New Zealand Embassies visit Muntok, West Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province to commemorate the 2nd World War tragedy.

In fact, this visit has become an annual routine agenda, to welcome the presence of the Australian, British, and New Zealand Embassies, PT Timah held a social gathering at Guest Unmet PT Timah Tbk, Wednesday (15/2/2023) evening.

Australian Embassy Assistant Defense Attache Jon Larnach Jones said, PT Timah Tbk often supports their activities in commemoration of the events of the World War.

"PT Timah's support is extraordinary, for the success of the activity which is held every year in Muntok, West Bangka. We are happy with the company's efforts in this activity. We thank PT Timah," said Jon.

According to him, the momentum of the commemoration of the events of World War 2 in Muntok can be used to become a tourism promotion event for West Bangka.

"This activity will attract foreign tourists to visit here, not only the families of victims of World War II, but other countries will also be interested in visiting here. Apart from that, West Bangka has a history of Indonesian independence," he said.

Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary of West Bangka Muhamad Soleh said, much support was provided by PT Timah Tbk in commemorating the events of World War II such as museum facilitation and hospitality.

"We thank PT Timah for its support with this activity, in addition to the museum and other facilities," he said.

He hopes that the commemoration of the events of World War 2 can have a positive effect on West Bangka tourism.

Soleh said Muntok is an old city that has a long history, starting with the history of World War 2 at Raji Beach and the history of Indonesian independence which became the place of exile for Indonesian independence figures.

"Hopefully this will become a beautiful memory, tell our region to all countries, ladies and gentlemen, West Bangka has beautiful tours, as well as a variety of cultures," he explained. (**)
