SAWANG -- PT Timah Tbk's Micro Small Business Funding Program (PUMK) targets various community groups, one of which is the fishermen group. One of the fishermen who took advantage of PT Timah Tbk's PUMK program was Hamid, a resident of Jalan Pantai Asmara Dewi, Sawang Village, Karimun Regency.
Hamid said he used PT Timah Tbk's PUMK program to complete his fishing equipment so that he could increase his catch as a gumbang fisherman.
With more complete fishing gear, he hopes to be able to improve his family's economy. In addition, he can develop other businesses.
Sure enough, after getting a capital loan through PT Timah Tbk's PUMK program, Hamid was able to buy gumbang nets and other equipment. With the new nets, it is hoped that more and more fish will enter the gumbang and will not escape again because the nets are still strong.
"Previously the nets I had were rotten and no longer fit for use, many fish were trapped in the gumbangnya but escaped, so the catch was greatly reduced," he said.
Hamid said that apart from buying Gumbang nets, he used the capital to buy fishing nets. So besides relying on the results from Gumbang, Hamid also gets additional income from catching fish and shrimp.
"By increasing this net, hopefully the family economy will also increase," he said.
He feels the many benefits he gets by participating in PT Timah Tbk's PUMK program, such as easy requirements and there is also a deadline for payment of disbursement so that the capital can really be used for business.
"In addition to the requirements being easy and not difficult, they are transparent so there are no deductions. It is very easy and indeed suitable for small businesses," he said.
He hopes PT Timah Tbk's PUMK program can continue to assist business actors in developing their businesses so that in the future they can also improve the community's economy.
