KUNDUR -- Ten years of being a fisherman with uncertain income, they are still grateful for Sabtu (50) residents of Ketapang Beach, Dusun II, Kundur Village, West Kundur District.
Sabtu, who has been a fisherman since he was a teenager, following in his father's footsteps, is used to catching shrimp. Due to limited capital, he only relies on simple and still traditional equipment.
His meager income to meet his daily needs means that he can only rely on makeshift equipment to make a living. Apart from catching shrimp, he also catches and fishes to earn additional income for his family.
"I find it difficult to replace fishing equipment because I don't have the capital. This also makes it difficult for me to be able to increase my income because the equipment used is inadequate and the catch is also not optimal," said Sabtu some time ago.
After receiving information from the fisherman chief about PT Timah Tbk's Micro Small Business Funding (PUMK) program, he felt interested in taking advantage of this program.
After receiving a capital injection from PT Timah's PUMK, he was able to replace new nets and buy canoes and other equipment.
"Thank God, after getting capital from PT Timah Tbk, I used it to buy nets and other equipment so that I could increase the catch," he said.
According to him, PT Timah Tbk's PUMK program is very good and helps fishermen like him. He hopes that this program can continue and roll on so that more and more fishermen will be helped.
"Hopefully PT Timah will be more advanced, and attention to fishing communities can continue to be given, one of which is a partnership program like this PUMK. This program can increase business capital so that it can improve the economy of small communities like us," he said. (*)
