BANGKA BARAT -- PT Timah Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting education by providing opportunities for university students to take part in internships within its business units.
This internship program serves as a form of synergy between the business and education sectors, while also supporting the improvement of young people’s competencies through real work experience. Every year, PT Timah accepts students from various regions to intern at the company.
This valuable experience is also being gained by six students from the Physics Study Program, Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Bangka Belitung, who are carrying out internships at PT Timah Tbk’s Processing & Refinery Division from July to November 2025.
The program not only provides practical work experience but also creates a family-like learning environment. The students expressed their happiness and pride at being able to gain knowledge at one of the largest state-owned enterprises in Bangka Belitung.
As shared by Ezhi Sahiza (21), she felt fortunate to experience the learning atmosphere in PT Timah’s laboratory.
“Besides having complete facilities, we also gained new knowledge and insights that we didn’t get on campus,” she said.
Meanwhile, Putri Cahyani (21) from Jada Bahrin, Merawang District, said she was glad to be able to apply what she learned in college directly.
“It’s really exciting to practice theories in real life, especially on subjects like metal physics, here,” she said.
Pride was also expressed by Khoiriyah (21) from Pangek Village, Simpang Teritip, who felt that they not only gained knowledge but were also guided well throughout the program.
“Interning at PT Timah has always been my dream. This is an honor for me because PT Timah is a major state-owned company with international standards. I learned so much here,” she said.
PT Timah’s Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, stated that the company remains committed to supporting education to help realize the Golden Generation 2045, one of which is by providing internship opportunities for students.
Anggi hopes that the students who take part in internships at PT Timah will not only learn but also be able to innovate in ways that can create positive impacts for the company. Interns are also directly involved in the company’s business processes in accordance with their respective fields of study.
“PT Timah provides space for students to learn and experience the working world firsthand, while also strengthening the link and match between universities and industry so that later it can enhance the capabilities of the interns,” Anggi concluded. (*)
