Synergy in Supporting Education: PT Timah Facilitates UPNV Yogyakarta Students to Complete Final Projects through Internships

BANGKA BARAT -- PT Timah Tbk has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting education by providing internship opportunities for university students, as part of its efforts to enhance the quality of human resources (HR).

Through this internship program, PT Timah provides students with the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in real work environments while gaining insights into business processes and operations in the mining industry, particularly in the tin sector.

One of the internship participants, Leona Grijanarka, a student from the Metallurgical Engineering Program at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran (UPNV) Yogyakarta, expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the experience gained during her time at PT Timah.

For over two months, several students from Yogyakarta conducted their final project research while interning at PT Timah's Processing and Refinery Division.

“I am very grateful to be warmly welcomed by PT Timah, especially in the Processing and Refinery Division. We were directly guided by professionals, given relevant topics, and fully supported in carrying out our final research from start to finish. It was an extraordinary experience,” said Leona, who is affectionately called Nana.

She explained that her research topic was both challenging and unique, focusing on the processing of tin non-slime (non-sline).

“Our research focused on processing non-sline tin to analyze its Sn content and further purification processes. In Indonesia, research on this topic is still very rare, so we feel proud to have conducted it at PT Timah. We hope the results can positively contribute to the company,” she added.

Echoing Leona’s sentiments, Made Andika, a student from Bali who also interned at PT Timah, expressed his appreciation.

“We received tremendous support throughout our internship. The mentors and staff at PT Timah were very friendly and provided great guidance. PT Timah also provided facilities and supporting infrastructure that made us feel comfortable while working on our final project,” he said.

He also hoped that the research results conducted with his peers would provide real contributions to process development at PT Timah. (*)
