PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the prevention of drug abuse, particularly among the younger generation. This commitment is reflected through the company’s participation in the Grand Final of the Ananda Bersinar Da’i and Da’iyah Competition organized by the National Narcotics Agency of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
The competition was participated in by 252 contestants from various regencies and cities across the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. The Grand Final was held at the Tribarata Hall of the Bangka Belitung Regional Police Headquarters on Thursday (April 23, 2026).
Through a religious approach, the competition serves as an effective educational platform to convey the dangers of drug abuse in a persuasive and impactful way. The moral messages delivered by the participants are expected to raise early awareness about the importance of staying away from narcotics.
Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Suyudi Ario Seto, emphasized that education on the dangers of drugs must begin at an early age. Based on survey results, around 70 percent of drug exposure occurs during adolescence, largely influenced by social environments.
“Therefore, children must be equipped with strong education and literacy so they have the courage to say ‘no to drugs’ and are able to resist any form of drug abuse,” he said during the event.
He also appreciated the collaboration of various parties, including PT TIMAH, in supporting drug prevention efforts through educational and religious approaches.
Meanwhile, the Governor of the Bangka Belitung Islands, Hidayat Arsani, emphasized that addressing drug-related issues cannot rely solely on law enforcement, but also requires spiritual and educational approaches.
“Through this Da’i and Da’iyah competition, messages about the dangers of drugs can be delivered through religious language that resonates more deeply with the community, especially the younger generation. We aim to build a generation that is not only intelligent but also has strong moral character and resilience against drug abuse,” he said.
Head of the Bangka Belitung Provincial BNN, Eko Kristianto, stated that the event, which involved 252 participants, is part of efforts to develop young people as agents of change in realizing a drug-free Bangka Belitung.
According to him, support from various stakeholders, including PT TIMAH, is crucial in strengthening the anti-drug movement within the community.
“If these young da’i and da’iyah continue to be nurtured and developed in forums across regions, they can become agents of change in achieving a drug-free Bangka Belitung,” he said.
One of the highlights of the event was the achievement of two siblings from MI Pondok Pesantren Al-Islam Kemuja, Bangka Regency, who won first place in two different age categories.
A parent of one of the participants, Al Hizroh, expressed gratitude and appreciation for PT TIMAH’s support for the event.
“We hope PT TIMAH will continue to support positive activities like this. Programs that nurture the younger generation are very important in shaping character and keeping children away from the influence of drugs,” he said. (*)
