KARIMUN -- PT TIMAH Tbk’s commitment to encouraging community self-reliance and economic growth has once again been demonstrated through its tangible support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
As a member of the Mining Industry Holding MIND ID, PT TIMAH Tbk provided assistance to KUBE Intan Payong in Kundur Village, West Kundur District, to help increase the production of various types of snack chips they produce.
This assistance from PT TIMAH Tbk aims to strengthen the production capacity and improve the quality of products made by local entrepreneurs, enabling them to become more competitive and capable of expanding to wider markets.
Hilda, the Chairperson of KUBE Intan Payong, shared that the business she started with five other women has been running for almost two years. They produce various types of chips such as coconut chips, sweet potato “chicken claw” chips, sweet potato chips in three flavor variations, spiced peanuts, and fish crackers made from tamban.
They continue to improve their production house and upgrade equipment to enhance product quality. However, Hilda admitted that they have faced difficulties in adding production tools due to limited capital.
“We already have a production house, but some parts are still not proper—for example, the walls haven’t been plastered yet, and our equipment is still very limited. Still, we keep trying to maintain our product quality,” she said on Tuesday (October 21, 2025).
Hilda expressed her gratitude for PT TIMAH Tbk’s support, which allows them to enhance their production equipment and further develop their business. Each month, they are able to produce hundreds of kilograms of various types of chips.
“Alhamdulillah, with the help from PT TIMAH Tbk, we can now improve our production house and add more equipment, such as pans, gas stoves, and other tools. We can also buy a spinner for oil drying since our current one often malfunctions, even though it’s very important for maintaining our product quality,” she explained.
According to her, this is not the first time PT TIMAH Tbk has supported them. Previously, the company also helped them promote their products during PT TIMAH Tbk’s 49th Anniversary MSME Bazaar.
“Alhamdulillah, at that time we were given the opportunity to sell at the company’s anniversary exhibition. By 9 a.m., all our products were sold out. We hope PT TIMAH Tbk will continue to include us in future promotional events and keep guiding us,” she said.
Hilda added that KUBE Intan Payong’s products are not only sold on Kundur Island but have also reached Karimun and are now available in modern retail stores, souvenir shops, and local stores.
“We are currently applying for trademark registration for the Intan Payong brand. Hopefully, with PT TIMAH Tbk’s continued support, we can grow further and increase production since we now have more equipment,” she stated.
Meanwhile, PT TIMAH Tbk’s Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, said that the company recognizes the important role of MSMEs as one of the key pillars in strengthening regional economies. Therefore, supporting increased production capacity is part of the company’s efforts to promote community economic independence.
“PT TIMAH Tbk is committed to continuously supporting MSME entrepreneurs so they can grow and move up in class. Through this assistance, we hope business owners can advance, become more independent, expand their markets, and create greater economic impact for local communities,” he said.
In addition to providing facilities and infrastructure assistance, PT TIMAH Tbk also actively supports its MSME partners through various training programs and workshops, covering topics such as financial management and digital marketing strategies.
Through this continuous support, PT TIMAH Tbk strives to help MSME entrepreneurs become self-reliant and drivers of regional economic growth. This initiative is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in supporting inclusive economic growth and empowering local communities.
