KARIMUN -- As part of its efforts to encourage youth empowerment and strengthen the role of young people, PT TIMAH Tbk provided support for a Domino Tournament organized by the United Youth Association of Tebing District (Perdata) in Tebing Village, Tebing District, Karimun Regency.
The tournament, which is an annual agenda of Perdata, was held at Warung Kopi Ago in Tebing Village. The event was participated in by 64 teams, both from areas around Balai Tebing and from outside Karimun Island. The competition has been running since November 12 and is scheduled to enter the final round next week.
Perdata Vice Chairman Hery Saptono said that the domino tournament represents the second implementation of a youth-level competition across Tebing District, aimed at strengthening social ties and fostering a spirit of sportsmanship among the younger generation.
“This activity is indeed Perdata’s annual agenda. Participant enthusiasm is always high; even last year it was attended by dozens of teams. The participants are not only men, but also women, which further strengthens inclusivity in the sport of domino,” Hery said.
He added that the tournament follows the competition standards of the Indonesian Domino Sports Association (PORDI), so it is not merely recreational, but also serves as a platform for developing local domino athletes.
“This also serves as a place for us to identify potential players who can later be developed and sent to compete at higher-level championships,” he explained.
In this activity, PT TIMAH Tbk provided support for the organizing committee as part of the company’s commitment to supporting positive youth activities.
Hery expressed his appreciation for PT TIMAH Tbk’s support, which he said has been consistently helping community development, especially in Tebing District and surrounding areas.
“PT TIMAH Tbk has supported this activity twice. In addition to the domino tournament, PT TIMAH Tbk has also contributed significantly to development in the Pongkar area. This support means a great deal to us and provides direct benefits to the community, especially young people,” he said.
He hoped that the synergy between youth organizations and PT TIMAH Tbk would continue in the future, including in various other social and community activities.
“We hope that in the future more positive activities can be carried out together, both on land and at sea, so that they can strengthen unity among the community and youth,” Hery concluded. (*)
