KARIMUN -- To support the achievements of volleyball athletes in Karimun Regency, PT Timah supported the Referee Cup 2, a volleyball tournament for junior high and high school students across the regency in 2025.
The tournament, organized by the Referee Division of the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI) Karimun Chapter, aims to provide a competitive platform for student-athletes ahead of the upcoming Regional Student Sports Week (POPDA).
Chairman of the Referee Cup 2 organizing committee, Alhamra, stated that this year, a total of 26 teams are competing in the tournament, which is being held from May 24 to June 4, 2025, at the Asrab Sports Hall.
Alhamra noted that four categories are being contested this year: boys and girls from both junior high and senior high school levels. This is the second year the tournament has been held.
“We appreciate PT Timah’s role as the main sponsor of the Referee Cup 2. Their support has greatly helped cover operational costs, including prizes,” he said.
“Student-level volleyball competitions are rare, so we organized this event to motivate students by giving them a platform to compete — not just train, but also gain real competition experience,” he added.
Looking ahead, he hopes PT Timah will continue to support interschool volleyball tournaments so that students who have been practicing regularly will be more motivated knowing there is a competition to look forward to.
“Thank you to PT Timah for caring about sports activities in Karimun Regency. We hope the company continues to support other sports competitions in the future,” he concluded.
