Supporting the Preservation of Rebana Art, PT TIMAH Assists AS-Saaddah Rebana Group in Lalang Village, East Belitung

BELITUNG TIMUR -- The preservation of local traditional arts and culture continues to be one of PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk’s priorities through various community social programs in its operational areas.

This time, PT TIMAH provided assistance in the form of rebana musical instruments to the AS-Saaddah Rebana Group in Lalang Village, Manggar District, East Belitung Regency, on Monday (May 5, 2026).

The assistance was provided to support the continuity of rebana art activities, as the group has actively participated in various religious and social community events.

Previously, the musical instruments used by the rebana group had been damaged, which hampered their practice sessions and performances.

Chairwoman of the AS-Saaddah Rebana Group, Yulizana, said the assistance greatly helped the group continue preserving rebana art within the community.

“The instruments we previously had were already damaged, even though we still practice regularly and often perform at social and religious events. This assistance is very helpful for us,” said Yulizana.

Currently, the AS-Saaddah Rebana Group has around 20 active members who practice twice a week. They also regularly perform at various community events such as religious gatherings, weddings, and other social activities across East Belitung.

According to Yulizana, the support from PT TIMAH not only helps in terms of facilities but also serves as motivation for members to continue preserving rebana art as part of the local cultural heritage.

“We are very grateful for the support provided. We hope the company continues to grow and provide benefits to the community,” she said.

Through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, PT TIMAH continues to support the preservation of local culture and strengthen traditional arts communities within its operational areas. This support is expected to help sustain rebana art as part of the cultural identity of the East Belitung community. (*)
