WEST BANGKA -- PT Timah consistently supports the preservation of community traditions in operational areas. One of them is to help preserve the seven likur culture in Mancung Village, Kelapa District, West Bangka Regency.
Seven Likur which is a tradition passed down from generation to generation by the people of Mancung village is carried out during the month of Ramadan. The highlight of the 7 Likur Cultural Festival in Mancung Village was held on Saturday, April 6 2024 evening.
To support this activity, PT Timah assisted the organizing committee. This festival is also a tourism agenda in West Bangka.
Chairman of the Seven Likur Committee in Mancung Village, Jeprianto, said that the highlight of the Seven Likur Cultural Festival featured a seven-like fire gate competition in the form of calligraphy buildings and mosques.
"A series of activities were carried out in the Seven Likur activities, such as a Muslim fashion competition, a call to prayer competition, recitations and memorizing short verses, and the peak night for the community to make a competition for seven Likur fire gates in the form of calligraphy buildings and mosques," said Jepri some time ago.
According to him, PT Timah always supports the preservation of community traditions such as the seven likurs in their village.
"Every time PT Timah organizes the Seven Likur activities, PT Timah also provides support with assistance to the committee, including this year. We thank you. We hope that PT Timah will progress and be successful," he said.
Meanwhile, the Village Head (Kades) Mancung Herlizon said that the seven Likur cultural festivals had become the West Bangka Government's tourism agenda.
"This tradition has been carried out for a long time since ancient ancestors, and began to be implemented on a large scale since 2006 by the West Bangka Regency Government," he said.
He appreciated PT Timah for supporting the seven likur festivals held in their village.
"We, on behalf of the government and the people of Mancung village, would like to thank PT Timah for supporting the seven Likur traditional activities of Mancung village," he said. (*)
