BANGKA BARAT – As part of its commitment to the national food security program, PT Timah has initiated a strategic project by developing the Tanjung Ular Farm Estate in Mentok, Bangka Barat Regency.
The Tanjung Ular Farm Estate, promoted by PT Timah, is designed as a modern pilot agricultural area, cultivating a variety of food crops.
As an initial step in developing the Tanjung Ular Farm Estate, PT Timah, through its Division of Processing and Refinery, planted a range of crops, including corn, coconut, cassava, fruits, and vegetables, and initiated livestock farming in Tanjung Ular, Mentok, Bangka Barat, on Friday (13/12/2024).
The planting activity was attended by the Division Head of Processing and Refinery, Sofian Simangunsong, along with PT Timah Tbk employees.
Currently, three hectares of land are allocated for cultivating food crops, with plans for further expansion. This area is also envisioned as a platform to empower the surrounding community.
Anggi Siahaan, Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT Timah, stated that the Tanjung Ular Farm Estate is an initiative by PT Timah's President Director, Ahmad Dani Virsal, to transform Tanjung Ular into a modern agricultural area supporting the national food security program.
In the future, the Tanjung Ular Farm Estate will not only focus on cultivating food crops but will also be developed into an integrated area featuring livestock and fish farming, a seedling nursery, composting facilities, and more.
"This Tanjung Ular Farm Estate will be developed into an integrated area, including food crops, livestock, and fish farming. With this modern agricultural concept, we aim to create a model farm that will also empower the local community," said Anggi.
Anggi emphasized that PT Timah, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, remains committed to supporting President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita vision, particularly in enhancing food security.
Previously, PT Timah had implemented various programs to strengthen national food security, such as encouraging the use of household yards as agricultural plots. (*)
