Supporting the Ministry of Environment and Forestry's Climate Village Program, PT Timah Tbk won an award from the Governor of Babel

WEST BANGKA -- In the momentum of the 23rd Anniversary of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, PT Timah Tbk received an award from the Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Government as a supporter of the climate village program promoted by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

This award was presented by the Acting Governor of Bangka Belitung Safrizal after the ceremony commemorating the 23rd Anniversary of Bangka Belitung Province at the Office of the Governor of Bangka Belitung, on Tuesday (21/11/2023).

ProKlim is a program that recognizes the active participation of communities who have implemented integrated climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts, so that they can support national GHG emission reduction targets and increase community resilience to the impacts of climate change.

PT Timah Tbk supports the Pro Climate program in Air Limau Village Climate Village, West Bangka Regency which received the Middle Category Climate Village Program Participation Charter by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

Head of the Bangka Belitung Province Environment and Forestry Service, Ferry Afriyanto, said that Proklim is a program of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry as a form of Indonesia's contribution to efforts to control global climate change.

ProKlim or Climate Village Program is one of the national programs managed by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) as part of Indonesia's commitment and contribution to efforts to control global climate change according to the results of the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP). UNFCCC.

This is as stated in the Glasgow Climate Pact which aims to increase the involvement and role of communities at the site and stakeholder level in adapting and mitigating climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

"This award provides recognition or appreciation to community groups at the site level as implementers, the government as supervisors, and related institutions/stakeholders (business world, educational institutions, NGOs, and others) as supporters of ProKlim," explained Ferry.

He appreciated PT Timah's role in supporting the Proklim program in Air Limau Mentok village, West Bangka through the Amoi Village Program (Agro Independent and Integrated) which is a form of adaptation and mitigation activity in ProKlim that aims to increase climate resilience in Air Limau Village.

According to him, this program also provides benefits in terms of food, economic and environmental needs.

Meanwhile, the Head of Air Limau Village, Mexsi Diansah, said he was proud of the award received by Air Limau Village together with PT Timah.

According to him, so far PT Timah Tbk has played an active role in assisting the Ministry of Environment's Pro-Climate program activities

Such as various training such as compost making, training for raising Arabian and Merawang chickens, and assistance for the Air Limau Pokdarwis.
