PANGKALPINANG -- Dozens of students from SMKN 1 Bakam visited PT Timah Tbk on Thursday (11/10/2022). This visit is a form of implementation of the independent curriculum run by the school.
These students seemed enthusiastic about listening to the presentation on information technology management run by PT Timah Tbk to support the company's business processes delivered by representatives from the Information Technology Division of PT Timah Tbk.
The accompanying teacher from SMKN 1 Bakam, Desy Rachimah said, in addition to getting exposure, the students were also invited to tour the control room monitoring the information system and help desk.
According to her, with this visit, students can learn about the world of work according to their majors and become aware of the technology and information systems developed at PT Timah where students who visit are students from the Department of Computer and Telecommunication Network Engineering.
"This is part of the Center for Excellence Vocational High School's learning program with an independent curriculum. So that students can get to know the world of work firsthand and become a motivation for students so that they study seriously and get an idea about work when they graduate," she said.
She also appreciates PT Timah Tbk for supporting independent learning activities and providing opportunities for their students to see firsthand the information and technology systems at PT Timah Tbk.
"We are very happy that PT Timah Tbk is very open and welcomes the visit. In the future, we plan that the curriculum program at SMKN 1 Bakam will invite guest teachers from PT Timah Tbk," she said.
Meanwhile, one of the students who took part in this visit, Hizkia Yudha Pratama, said that he got new experiences from this visit and could add insight.
"The visit was quite exciting and we were well received, we were introduced and explained about the information technology used at PT Timah Tb. I am very interested because this is in line with my major," he said.
In addition, he said, which was no less attractive when he saw the control room and help desk. They can gain a lot of new knowledge and motivate themselves to keep learning.
"I have learned a lot of new knowledge, we are only in class X, so we have more and more ideas about the world of work and work from our department," he said.
