BANGKA SELATAN -- To support sports activities and improve the quality of life of the community, PT Timah Tbk provided assistance for the renovation of a volleyball court in Rias Village, Toboali District, South Bangka Regency, on Friday (August 15, 2025).
This assistance was highly anticipated by the residents of Rias Village, as the existing volleyball court had been severely damaged and was no longer suitable for use. With PT Timah’s support, the court will undergo improvements, including surface leveling, widening the area by about 1.5 meters on all sides, resurfacing, replacing the net, and repainting the boundary lines.
The Head of Karang Taruna of Rias Village, Imam Kolbi, expressed his appreciation for PT Timah’s concern. According to him, the court renovation plan had been long overdue but was hindered by financial limitations.
“Since 2021, the renovation plan has been on hold due to lack of funds. Thankfully, PT Timah responded very well to our request. We are grateful for this support, and we hope it will benefit the youth and people of Rias Village,” he said.
PT Timah’s support for sports facilities is expected to strengthen the spirit of togetherness among residents while encouraging a healthy lifestyle.
“This assistance is not just about renovating the court, but also about giving new motivation to the community to make sports a part of their healthy daily lives,” added Imam Kolbi.
The same sentiment was shared by Nurbaya, a representative of the Rias Village women’s volleyball team. She explained that the poor condition of the court had been a major obstacle for both athletes and the community.
“The court often flooded when it rained, had many holes, and was too narrow. With these improvements, we are very happy. Hopefully, this will encourage young people to be more active in sports and make volleyball a positive activity for the community,” she said.
The renovation assistance for the volleyball court is part of PT Timah’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in supporting healthy and empowered communities. (*)
