Supporting the Achievements of West Bangka Pencak Silat Athletes, PT Timah Provides Training Facility

WEST BANGKA – To support the achievements of Pencak Silat athletes in West Bangka Regency, PT Timah is providing training facilities for Satria Muda Indonesia martial arts school athletes by allowing them to use the company’s assets as a training venue.

The Satria Muda Indonesia athletes eagerly train at the Wisma Majapahit Courtyard in Mentok, West Bangka Regency. They have achieved numerous victories in various silat competitions.

Hariyanda, Chairman of Satria Muda Indonesia, stated that the athletes' success is closely linked to PT Timah’s support, which has provided them with a training space.

"It has always been difficult to find a proper training place for our athletes. We are very grateful to PT Timah for allowing us to use the building behind Wisma Majapahit, along with its courtyard, as our training area. This support has been extremely helpful," said Hariyanda on Sunday (February 9, 2025).

According to him, this is not the first time PT Timah has supported its athletes, as the company has also backed them in various competitions.

"We strongly believe PT Timah will continue to support sports achievements, especially in Pencak Silat. During the last Provincial Sports Week (Porprov), PT Timah contributed significantly. We hope PT Timah continues to grow and remain committed to supporting sports in West Bangka," he added.

Similarly, Febrianda (28), a Satria Muda Silat coach, mentioned that PT Timah also supports the organization of silat championships.

"Besides training facilities, an athlete’s performance is also influenced by proper equipment such as competition gear, pacing pads, body protectors, and weight training tools. Additionally, tryouts and exposure to tournaments are crucial in strengthening the mental resilience and experience of silat athletes," he explained.

"We sincerely thank PT Timah for their contribution to the development of Pencak Silat in West Bangka. We hope they will continue supporting our athletes. Our prayers are for PT Timah to remain successful and prosperous," he added.

Several Satria Muda athletes who have made remarkable achievements include Abdul Rahman (14), Gold medalist in the POPDA district competition; Saskia (15), Silver medalist at the 2024 Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Anniversary Tournament, Umara (20), Gold medalist in Boxing at the 2023 Porprov, Meilani (13) – Gold medalist at the TNI Anniversary Tournament, and Athaya (15) – Gold medalist at the 2024 IPSI CUP (*)
