Supporting Poultry Farming Program at SMKN 1 Simpang Renggiang, PT Timah Tbk Donates Battery Cage Assistance

EAST BELITUNG -- Supporting the education program at SMKN 1 Simpang Renggiang in East Belitung Regency, PT Timah Tbk handed over assistance for the construction of a battery cage for a chicken farm at the school.

This chicken farm battery cage is a learning tool for students majoring in poultry farming. In addition, this school also has a chicken farm, so facilities such as battery cages are really needed.

The head of SMKN 1 Simpang Renggiang, Rayon Sihotang, said that currently they already have hundreds of laying hens, but the existing battery cages are not enough and are currently under construction.

"This chicken will be managed by the school, and it will be a place for students and teachers to practice later," said Rayon.

He said that the battery cages they currently have are not enough, because one battery cage can only accommodate 200 laying hens. Currently, the battery enclosure is in the process of being built and is planned to be completed in November.

"So this is indeed to support education in our schools," he said.

Apart from laying hens, they also have broilers, Elba hens, and quails.

Rayon said that the poultry farm owned by this school is not only a learning tool for students and teachers, but also helps reduce egg prices. Moreover, the price of eggs was high yesterday, they were still able to sell cheaply compared to the price in the market.

"People around us buy it at school, and the price is cheaper, but still not enough to meet the needs of the community," he explained.

His party appreciates the assistance from PT Timah Tbk, the article is not only helping their schools, this battery cage assistance can also help meet the supply of eggs in East Belitung and also reduce commodity prices, especially eggs.

"We can reduce the price of eggs, we sell Rp. 1,800 while outside of Rp. 2,000 and even more, so we thank PT Timah Tbk," he said.
