Supporting O2SN in West Bangka, PT Timah Facilitates the Venue for Two Sports Competitions

WEST BANGKA -- To support the achievements of athletes in various sports in West Bangka Regency. PT Timah Tbk supports the implementation of the National Student Olympiad (O2SN) for elementary and junior high school students at the district level.

The support provided was by facilitating the venue for the competition for the pencak silat sport which was held at the IPSI Padepokan Room of PT Timah Tbk Metallurgical Unit Muntok, Monday (29/5/2023).

The O2SN Pencak silat branch which was attended by elementary school students consisted of 9 male and 9 female silat fighters and 8 male and 8 female silat fighters from junior high school. Each district sends athletes to this 02SN.

Head of the Basic Education Division at the West Bangka Regency Education, Youth, and Sports Agency H. Darul appreciated PT Timah Tbk's support for the implementation of O2SN in West Bangka.

"O2SN for elementary and junior high schools in 2023 which will take place from 29-30 May 2023 for the Pencak Silat and Swimming branches using sports facilities at Unmet PT Timah," he said.

"Thank you for the support of PT Timah Tbk for giving permission to use its facilities as the venue for the O2SN matches," he said.

Meanwhile, one of the Tempilang fighters who won 1st place in pre-adolescent class E admitted that he was enthusiastic about participating in the competition.

"I didn't expect to win because the opponents were quite tough. I only had the enthusiasm to win. This champion, Adit, is dedicated to Mr. and Mrs. who have supported Adit and the school," said Tempilang 3 Middle School students.

Similarly, the winner of class E for young women, Aini Pratiwi, said that her motivation to compete was to win, although she admits that it is not easy.

"Even though I was slightly injured, because I was at risk with quite a heavy opponent, I still had the motivation to want to win, thank God I won," said the SMPN 1 Tempilang student.

Tempilang Pencak Silat coach, Zakarsyi said the athletes who competed were the result of selection at the sub-district level.

"The athletes who competed have gone through inter-school selection, then focused on training for two weeks before competing in the 02SN championship. We would like to thank all parties and PT Timah for making pencak silat a success," he said.(**)
