Supporting MSMEs to Level Up, PT TIMAH Tbk Equips MSMEs with Financial Management Knowledge

PANGKALPINANG – As part of its commitment to promote the independence and sustainability of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), PT TIMAH Tbk held a Workshop on Financial Management and Simple Financial Reporting for Businesses.

The workshop, attended by 40 MSME partners in the company’s operational areas, featured two guest speakers from the Master of Management program at the University of Bangka Belitung (UBB): Dr. Nizwan Zukhri, S.E., M.M and Dr. Darus Altin, S.E., M.MSi. It took place at the TINS Gallery Hall on Tuesday (October 14, 2025).

The aim of the workshop was to enhance participants’ understanding of managing cash flow, preparing simple financial reports, and planning effective financial strategies to help their businesses grow sustainably.

During the training, participants learned about basic financial management, how to separate business and personal finances, how to manage cash flow, and how to record business financial transactions. The speakers also conducted hands-on simulations to help participants better understand how to apply simple financial management techniques.

PT TIMAH Tbk’s Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, stated that financial management is a fundamental aspect of business development, especially in today’s challenging economic climate. With good financial management skills, MSME owners can more easily assess their business performance and make informed decisions.

“Good financial management is key to business sustainability. Through this training, PT TIMAH Tbk wants to help MSME players become better prepared to face challenges and grow their businesses independently,” he said.

Anggi added that in addition to funding support, PT TIMAH Tbk also assists MSMEs through training, mentorship, and by promoting their products at exhibitions.

One of the speakers, Dr. Nizwan Zukhri, pointed out that financial management remains a common hurdle for MSMEs trying to grow. He noted that many still struggle to separate personal and business finances.

“Training like this is crucial for MSME players. Besides the issue of limited capital, they often lack financial management skills. Business funds are still mixed with personal funds, so they can’t tell when they’re making a profit or a loss, or when they’ll break even,” he explained.

It is hoped that with this training, PT TIMAH Tbk’s MSME partners will be able to apply what they’ve learned to begin managing their finances more effectively, thereby supporting the growth of their businesses.

One participant, Sartika, said the training was very helpful in managing her business finances, which previously had been mixed with personal funds and not well-organized.

“Alhamdulillah, with this training, we’ve learned how to manage finances simply and start separating business and personal funds. Thank you to PT TIMAH for providing this important training,” she said.

Similarly, Serli Heryani, owner of the Mama Naya Bolen brand, said the training not only expanded her network but also gave her valuable insights that she could implement.

“I’m really grateful to have joined this training, especially since it was provided for free by PT TIMAH. We gained so much knowledge. Usually, we’d have to pay to learn this ourselves. I’ve come to realize several new things about financial management, like the importance of separating business and personal funds, and it turns out it can be done simply,” she concluded. (*)
