EAST BELITUNG -- PT Timah shows its commitment in preserving history and appreciating the services of heroes by supporting the proposal of the figure of Lieutenant Colonel Pas (Purn) H. AS. Hanandjoeddin as a National Hero.
This member of PT Timah's MIND ID Mining Industry Holding participated in helping Yayasan Melati, Tanjung Pandan in its efforts to publish the book 'The Struggle of H. AS. Hanandjoeddin in the Archives' as a step to document the struggles and contributions of the proposed figure as a National Hero.
Haril M Andersen, as Chairman of the Melati Foundation, Tanjung Pandan, said that the publication of this book was not only for the nomination of national heroes, but also as library literacy material.
“This book was published for the benefit of re-proposing the late Mr. H.AS Hanandjoeddin as a national hero. Besides being distributed to complete the administration of the hero proposal in stages from the Belitung Regency Social Service (Dinsos) and East Belitung Regency Social Service, then the Bangka Belitung Provincial Social Service, to the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) ”
“In addition, this is also for the socialization of hero proposals at the Provincial and Regency levels. This book will also be distributed for the benefit of science as library literacy material in school libraries, especially in the Bangka Belitung region. We are planning to print as many as 500 books,” said Haril.
Haril and the Team also felt greatly helped by the assistance from PT Timah Tbk, besides that he also appreciated the contribution of PT Timah who cared about regional history and culture.
“We are grateful to PT Timah for its participation and concern for our efforts to publish a book containing a collection of primary data from the H.AS Hanandjoeddin Struggle Archive to complete the data for re-proposing the late Mr. H AS Hanandjoeddin as a national hero from the Bangka Belitung Islands Province,” he said,
According to Haril, the support from PT Timah is quite meaningful in their efforts to compile primary data on H.AS Hanandjoeddin's struggle into a book that will be launched in mid-2025.
“It is no exaggeration if we call PT Timah as one of the very few companies in Bangka Belitung whose business management is based on the spirit of nationalism,” he said.
Not only making books, he will also explore making documentaries and various other agendas to socialize the heroism of H.AS Hanandjoeddin.
“ Insyaa Allah, we will explore making a documentary film about H.AS Hanandjoeddin's struggle. We will also hold discussions and invite educators and historical observers to write opinion pieces in the mass media about the heroism of H.AS Hanandjoeddin,” Haril said.
Previously, PT Timah also supported the proposal of Depati Amir as a National Hero and in 2018 Depati Amir was designated as a National Hero from the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. (*)
