Supporting Government Initiatives, PT Timah Pilots Free Nutritious Meal Program in East Belitung

BELITUNG – PT Timah has launched a pilot program providing free nutritious meals to students in support of President Prabowo’s national initiative for free nutritious meals. The program is being trialed at PAUD Meranteh and SD Negeri 21 Gantung in Selinsing Village, East Belitung Regency.

The pilot program, conducted on Monday (25/11/2024), was attended by East Belitung Regent Burhanudin and the Acting Head of the East Belitung Education Office, Dedi Wahyudi.

Dedi Wahyudi expressed his appreciation for PT Timah’s commitment to improving education and the well-being of the younger generation, particularly in the company’s operational areas.

“This is a very positive initiative. We appreciate PT Timah for conducting a one-month trial of the free nutritious meal program at three schools: PAUD Meranteh, SD Negeri 21 Gantung, and SMP Negeri 4 Gantung,” he said.

Dedi also expressed hope for sustained collaboration between PT Timah and local stakeholders in education and health sectors.

“I hope the partnership with PT Timah, particularly in education and health, continues to thrive. Such collaboration can significantly impact the development of the younger generation and the region as a whole,” he added.

To ensure the hygiene, packaging, and distribution of meals, PT Timah has partnered with the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) of East Belitung. The agency is responsible for evaluating and monitoring nutritional standards to achieve optimal results.

Assruddin, Head of BPOM East Belitung, praised PT Timah’s initiative, emphasizing its alignment with the President’s program.

“Our role is to ensure this program runs smoothly by adhering to established criteria, including hygienic processing, packaging, storage, distribution, and the quality of ingredients used,” he explained.

BPOM also commended PT Timah’s significant contribution to the free nutritious meal initiative, marking an important step towards its continuation in 2025.

“PT Timah has been an exemplary volunteer for this program, showcasing clear contributions. This initiative should be carried forward, and PT Timah’s efforts deserve recognition,” Assruddin remarked.

Anggi Siahaan, Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT Timah, emphasized the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting education through various programs.

“This free nutritious meal program aligns with the vision of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, to enhance public health and address child nutrition needs. PT Timah is proud to take part in advancing this initiative, starting in East Belitung Regency,” Anggi stated.

She expressed hope that the program would improve students’ nutritional quality, contributing to the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045. (*)
